|
daniel3b : Half of this stuff you specifically copied from my guide.
There are a lot of standards in this game, it may not be intentional copying but rather a lack of content to make for unique guides. Of course if something is copied word for word then I apologize and take back what I said. Overall the guide has a lot of superfluous info. I suppose that does work for the truly lazy but trimming it down a bit would make for an easier read for others, keeping people's attention is a key factor to making a guide worth looking at. I'm also not particularly fond of the reasons behind the builds you set forth. They lacked, well, reasoning. It was more like I am adding this because it's better, you aren't getting this because it sucks. An explanation as to why something is lacking in usefulness goes a long way. There is a difference between laying down a cookie cutter build and informing people about their skills so they can see why this build is actually the best for them. Remember that yours is not the only guide and if you want people to take your information seriously there needs to be reasoning behind it. For 4th job I really dislike having a zerk build first. It is slower, it really is not a viable option. After that the rest of the 4th job is primarily figure it out for yourself but if you don't want to here's this one build I made that I'm gonna vary slightly. Once again a description of the skills, where they are used, why they are needed would go a long way. If you're gonna propose builds have some reasoning behind them, there was none. With as much as 4ht job skills builds vary there are right moves for people to make based on their situation, giving them info on what moves to make based on what situation they are in is helpful to people. As much as we like to believe people can make these decisions on their own the multitude of threads in this section proves this is not the case. The bossing section was a nice addition. Unfortunately I felt it was very brief and just rushed in general. Perhaps you were getting to the end of the guide and just wanted to get it over with kind of thing. I'd look into revising it as I think it can be a great asset to your guide. I'll leave more notes after my 2nd read through. Overall it is a presentation of a lot info you could get from various places put into one place. There is no real analysis of this info at all, it is a nice reference but not a guide imo. One last thing. It does not matter how up to date a guide actually is people will call it outdated as a way to justify asking a question that can be answered from looking at a sticky. daniel3b keeps his guide very up-to-date from what I've seen so that little jab at the beginning of this reference is a little uncalled for. Edit: Knew something didn't look right when you didn't have ER listed as a maxed skill in your hybrid build finals but had it in the actual listed builds. Honest mistake but needs to be cleaned up. It is in all of your 3rd job builds. The main flaw I'm finding after looking through it |

| As stated before, to me this is just a giant compilation of lots of information taken from elsewhere, and put into one giant helluva "guide". To me, its simply too basic, not in depth or informative to be an actual guide; simply a compilation as stated above. It is also simply too opinionated, try to add some facts, although David covered most of the things I said already. |

Apparently when more than 1 guide is put together, it loses the ability of being a guide Facts? There is no facts in maple. If one person think training at this place is fast, another will think it sucks. If once person thinks that it should be done this way, another will think it should be done this way. If you think its a bad guide, you make one. Im 99.99% sure you cant make a good one. |
Alright, not facts, but be more in-depth instead of simply saying, "This is better then this so do that." And it is a compliation of data, FROM guides, a guide is a way to show someone WHY they should be doing something, which is something this data lacks. |

What I am telling you to do is to teach him HOW to fish. In the end, who comes out better, the kid who was given the fish and cannot get any more, or the kid who can potentially get unlimited amounts of fish? Remember, I'm just trying to help you out here, not attack your guide. All in all, it was a good effort, no need to be hostile towards me. |
