Veterans: Asking a question.

Why do you insist on saying you're a 'veteran' player? I never understand what that would do for someone. Does it entitle a better maple status? Am I missing some elite item that veterans have that others don't? Maybe just to be a little conceited? This isn't to bash or hate on people who've played since Beta or w/e, but I never got the gist of why people say it..

Maybe it's a reaction to the people who sigh when they get less than 30% per hour on 1X EXP while the veterans had to train at the same level at 10% per hour or something. XD It's not very fair, because the new people have never experienced the game when it was in that state. On top of that people are already prone to "In the past everything used to be a lot better". But yeah, I guess it's some kind of elitism. (I've been playing since 0.07 myself and don't really care for the Badge of the Veteran) Don't let it bother you. ;)

same ive been playing for a long time. Since way before Pirates came out. It doesn't really say we're "better" than the current players, we just don't take things for granted like people do these days. no 2x cards or family rep Personally i really despise the kids that leech or do "FWs" in cpq. Like pavchka said, we "veterans" had to train our way using legit methods, slowly using 1x not like the 4x people use. LPQ was packed, Coolies was packed, CBs were considered the fastest training class. I remember waking at 4 in the morning just to pq because it was always so packed....i still have my notebook filled with pages and pages of tracks

I'll say just this... when I played beta my biggest accomplishment was leveling to 40. I put on my new equipment and everywhere I went people said to me "wow you are so pro" All the time. I was admired for being.. level 40. It didn't matter that we didn't have scrolls for our workgloves, or that I still had level 10 shoes or 20 LUK, sure maybe I maxed Endure back then, too . But people saw the level 40 and were inspired by it. Besides, back then, 100 was the max level. Now people can level to this in a day, and even twice as much in two, but it took me most of my beta career. Now here I am level 110... I hardly play this game and no one cares that there is a lonely axe crusader that is level 110. No one. It's no longer about your leveling accomplishments, it's about the damage you can do, and I know the truth, my damage sucks.

It used to take me a month to get to lvl 30. When I got my first level 50 after almost a year, I swear I fainted. Ahhhh. I don't mind the 4x though. It's nice Also, I still think of Windia as a new world. I remember when it first came out; everyone was excited because the Windia symbol looked cool lolol. |

New players these days don't know how hard it was to train on a monster that gave 190 exp, and at the time considered good exp. Also it was much harder getting to 3rd job, after 50 there weren't any more PQs. When you compare the exp you get from LPQ to CPQ theres no contest. And just putting this out there, back in the day no one could leech.

I have the veteran adventurer medal, so ya know, I'm basically entitled to flaunt my pro-ness. But in all honesty, pav is right. When people complain about today's "state of the game," older players like to remind the newer ones that they're lucky to have so much in the game, since back a few years ago, it was much more difficult (EXP curve, less PQs, less items, etc.).

like i said, kids these days take all the new methods of training for granted. They don't appreciate how lucky they are to not have to sit around for hours waiting for the other party to leave the bonus. All it is these days is 2x and 4x and leeching. I mean people tell me that they never train without 2x. WTF? lv30 was considered 1337

[/quote] I was just in a thread about "boohoo you can only wear one ring even though you have 10 fingers" Really... there were no rings, no belts, no mounts, no pets, no good scrolls, .. and you were lucky if you could afford those level 10 earrings in Henesys back then. |

I'd have to say from us who've played from beta or anywhere near it, it's the nostalgic factor of a fresh, fun game. No real a-holes, no KSers, no dex/lukless builds, a couple PQs and one goal. Everything was simple. And everything was great. Change is good too, but I think us as "Vets" would rather be called "Those who made Maple what it is".
