iPad or Laptop?

| I start college in a month, and would like a computer to accompany me in my journey, for note taking, typing up essays...that kind of stuff. Out of college, I'd like a computer that I can easily surf forums, play some games(Runescape/other internet games), watch some movies/music...that kind of stuff. I already have a powerful desktop for all my gaming Should I go for a 16G iPad, or for a Netbook? Budget is somewhere around 500-700 dollars. |

| Well if you are not going to get a real laptop then I would go with the ipad, you could rapidly search the internet, have up to 10,000(?) songs, and some movies. So, why not? But if you are willing to buy a real laptop you should definetly get a mac, they are perfect for your school stuff. |

People are quick to judge before trying it out. I'm guilty of that too. In fact I'm typing this on his iPad right now haha. Typing is pretty fast and making documents is full-featured. There's even an app that i have to wirelessly print them from the iPad. I still think it's kind of expensive, but for what it is and what it does, it's not bad at all. |

| People saying you can't do work on an iPad, have you tried yourselves? It's pretty easy and almost the same as any other computer. You can add photos, write text write essays manipulate them etc. The keyboard is just fine and easy to use. Better than the small netbook keyboards for sure. I say use it for a while, it took me a day or two to get used to the keyboard but after that it was a breeze. The jailbreak for the iPad is pretty awesome too since the processor on the iPad is pretty fast, it doesn't slow it down at all.
