Hi, well, I haven't played for multiple, multiple years, I quit around .55 ish? So, it's been awhile. Uhm, I recently got a new computer, and I wanted just to try MS out again. I have all of my info for the account and everything, but that isn't the problem. It's downloading the game completely. Well, I it's a Windows Vista computer, I don't exactly understand all of the stuff about how you can log in from the website. Make's no complete and utter sense. So, any help is appreciated. Here are my issues: When I start the regular MS Setup, where it shows the guy with the cake and it says "5th Anniversary" I can get to Map. Wz, than it stops, and says an problem with the installation has occurred. Please try again. When I click OK, I get and error -40 with some numbers. 11207,0 I think, i'm trying to re-install so I will change the numbers as soon as I get it to the point where I stop. Again, ANY help at all is appreciated. I hope this problem is an easy fix. Edit: I have deleted my Norton security. So, anything helps Edit 3: Ok, well it just finished, nothing new it stop at Character.wz this time. Guess I shouldn't even try. Kinda pointless since I know it isn't going to work. Thanks, to anyone that can help, bumps are openly welcome.

BobRMake sure you have at least SEVEN GIGABYTES of free space on your hard drive. Maple has grown incredibly since .55, and even though the game itself only takes up a little less than 2GB after it's installed, it takes -7GB- to install it. More free space is better so Windows can do its things more easily too. Try uninstalling Maple Story from the Windows Control Panel, then reinstall again, but when it asks you WHERE to install it, CHANGE the line that says: C:/Nexon/Maplestory to something else- like C:/Nexon/Maplestory2 for example. It makes no earthly sense why, but some times that will help with cranky installation problems. Male sure you don't have a lot of extraneous stuff running in the background when you try to run MapleStory, and it wouldn't hurt to run a thorough scan with an anti-spyware scanner like "Malwarebytes" before going through the whole installation process just in case there's something evil lurking in the system. As for the login business, it's just a different way of starting up the game. They want you to open the website first, then click the "Play" button there, instead of doing it the "old fashioned way" you're used to seeing. Really doesn't matter, it gets you to the same login screen as before, and the game starts just like it used to.

Thank you, I was wondering since I deleted Norton if you could recommend a good, free Anti-virus program that is easily usable? I will try the change of the Nexon thing. I know I have more than 7 gigabytes. I have 429GB free of 456GB on my C: disk. But on my FACTORY IMAGE one I only have about 1.56GB left.

BobRLol- yes, that should be plenty of space, so no worries there. The "factory image" partition won't matter because it's not used for anything like this. As far as an anti-virus, people like "Avira" or "Avast!" and I use "AVG Free" myself. AVG has been known to have problems with MapleStory in the past, but that's apparently been fixed now. The other two have good reputations and as far as I know haven't had any problems with the game, so those might be good choices to try.

Ok, I am trying Avast right now, hopefully it works. But, what should I do if the problem of it stopping on Character.wz or Map.wz still continues? EDIT: Doing a full system scan with avast! to see if it helps any.
