| I play maplestory on a laptop, and there's kinda of a problem.. Whenever i play maplestory for about 30 minutes, and my laptop starts to heat up bit, my computer shuts down. This only happens when i play maplestory, so it's fine when i do something else. Anyone know a solution for this? |

| Make sure you're not resting the laptop on a carpet, the fan needs room to "breathe". Mine does the same thing, and it'll heat up, but it won't overheat and shut down unless I'm resting on a carpet with it. |

| haha that happened to me too, and it was so annoying. my solution: ok so you kno those fruit snack boxes? well the big rectanglular prisms (:D) anyway i cut slits into the top side so there would be less surface area touching the laptop, and then cut some holes in the sides of the box, so the hot air could come out (idk if this part works) anyway im fine now |

| If you are able to, open up your laptop and clean out the dust that is trap in the fan compartment as well as blocking the vents. Do this using a compress air can, as if you used a vacuum cleaner (unless you have one that design to do this kind of stuff), you will rest shocking it as it generate static electricity. Also, as stated on the can, make sure you hold the can upright so their isn't any build up of liquid blowing onto it. If you feel like you won't be able to do this, you can always get a friend or something that you know that may be able to do this for you. Or take it to a computer shop. |

| If your computer heats up a lot, that means your computer fan (inside) is dusty and you need to replace it or clean it :P ORRR it's because your battery is over heating, it's when it's at 100% and you keep it charged anyways. |

|
ForbiddenIP : Your processor is getting old and crappy.
^That's exactly it. Lol, like everyone said, it's overheating so it shuts down to try to prevent any damage. Unfortunately, my laptop failed at saving itself... This happened to my old laptop, so much so the things inside started melting (only some things). Your best idea is to clean it (dust out the fan). Also make sure you have enough RAM to run it (I think that's what it's called, I'm no expert. I'm just going to refer to it as memory because I forgot what the tech guy told me :D) My laptop started to run low on memory. Since Maplestory takes a lot of memory/RAM to run, it required a lot when I didn't have enough. This contributed to my laptop over heating because it was over working itself to run Maplestory. So, the next step might be to upgrade, unfortunately. I'm sorry that I might sound unclear about what I'm saying, I'll try my very best to clear it up. Just ask, because exactly what you're saying is exactly what happened to me. EDIT: I forgot to add that this happened to me only when I played Maplestory too, or another downloaded online MMORPG type. If I was browsing the internet, etc, it'd be completely fine. |

| With my dinosaur laptop, I propped up the back with a piece of wood and then have a fan nearby. When the computer gets hot, I'll turn the on the fan to blow air under it and cool it down. I also did open it up and clean our the vents, which helped a lot. But, be sure to do this with care if you go this route... |

| make sure your laptop is on a flat surface so air can properly go in n out (Mmm in n out) second go buy some ...darn forgot name the air ina can o_o and use it on the vents and fans to get rid of dust... the most effective thing is to buy thermal compound open up the laptop and apply it on the cpu (if its reachable) and this takes some practice and skill. maybe take it to a pro? if you think you can do it yourself i suggest arctic silver 5 its about 5 to 10$. also like others said get a cooling pad about maybe 15$ |
