You guys have probably heard of this book or read it, but I have some questions about it. My class recently started on it(much to my dismay) and now we're up to chapter 9. Now I have to write a little essay on Holden and what type of guy he is and symbolism of death. That last part of course caught me off guard, this is probably one the last books I would think I'd see symbolism in. The last 9 chapters were just about Holden's boring life in the past week and what he's thinking about and then him going to a hotel failing to pick up a stripper or whatever. Does this book get any better? It seems like a really boring diary of some guy recorded in his mind. I skipped toward the end and realized Holden wanting to go live in a cabin or whatever. Is Holden that dumb a guy? Haha, all this typing could have been used on my essay, but whatever. TLDR version :Why is this book so dumb? Does it even get any better than the meaningless everyday crap in Holden's life?

Funny, we just had a choice to read 3 books, one being The Catcher in the Rye.
