About Magic Guard?

So I recently made my evan just like most of you and had to buy the crappy 2knx for the magic guard. I dont know a lot about mages and dont know whats best either staff or wand or if I should just put all points on Int. But anyways, it says that magic guard is suppose to take a MP hit instead of taking away your HP. I get hit and my HP still goes down even when I have magic guard on, so wtff is MG good for then? Does it apply only when I get hit w/ a magic attack or what? Let me know peeps.. Thx

I think the description of the skill makes it quite obvious...

MG only removes I think 60% of dmg when you get hit, when it's maxed out. Which is a crucial skill for mages considering their low amount of HP verses their high amount of MP.

I do read and my MP remains the same after the hit, but maybe they'll be a diff after I max it out. Only @ 7 right now

The Evan's Magic Guard has a misleading description: "All damage taken temporarily affects MP instead of HP. If MP reaches 0, your HP takes a full hit." Nexon should probably fix the description before other people get confused.

I'll give you an example. Say you are a normal mage with maxed MG. You take a 1000 damage hit. If magic guard is on, 80% (800) of the damage will be subtracted from MP. Only 20% (200) of the damage will actually hurt your HP. So, in a sense, it nullifies most of the damage and subtracts it from MP.
