I have small hands

And I'm learning to play the guitar. However, my hands are kinda small.. not like extremely tiny, but girlish, asian girl hands idk... when I look at YouTube videos, all the guitarists have really large hands. I even look at child prodigies, and even their hands are pretty big! All my guitarist friends too... -___- So my question is this: would having small hands be considered a disability for playing guitar? I haven't gotten too far, so I wouldn't know. Anyone else have small hands and is a guitarist?

Just get a smaller guitar or a ukulele! Ukuleles are cool.

My hands are really small and I play guitar and have for about 16-17 years. You just need to find a guitar that works for you. My telecaster is very thin necked and works fine.

you know what that means small hands small gloves. Yes you will probably have some problem playing it later on.

It all goes away with practice. My hands aren't the biggest either, and I think I'm doing okay for somebody who's self-taught and hardly spends any time on the instrument.

um larger hands do give you an advantage at ANY instrument for example, rachmaninoff had GIGANTIC hands and wrote piano works that not everyone could play for guitarists, larger hands would benefit in rigorous chord passages, depending wt type of music you play, but of course you could shift up and down, but that's a waste of energy and inefficient for me, i'm a violinist, so large hands=advantage over most pple

small hands will become an inconvenience, and it may be harder to play some chords since It's a bit of a stretch at times. you can prolly compensate simply by shifting your hand more.

meee :D do exercises before you play. like, by maneuvering around the fretboard and adjusting to the feeling of spreading your fingers. mmm.. your hands should be around to wrap around the neck for the most part. it's not really a disability, if your hands really are that small it'll just take more practice to get down transitions between chords, and of course the more difficult chords ie; barres

I just don't put enough pressure sometimes, I guess =/
