Definitely pick Totodile. Only 2 weaknesses, which are Grass and Electric. Pretty good stats, best move-pool IMO. Easy to train, evolves early, also you can overcome your rival's starter Pokemon just by using Ice Fang.

I actually think that Chikorita is a good choice. I picked totodile cause of FR/Crystal and other games. Chikorita because there are like no good grass pokemon (correct me) besides the starter. Does 4x against water-ground (even though its rare) and Meganium has good hp / attack

It's more of a defensive Pokemon compared to the other two.
