Well when I first started maple my first character was my now level 84 Ranger. But he was granted the title of "on hiatus" when cygnus knights came out because I made a Wind Archer. But that character was quit after I lost all motivation at level 100. So It was then I started my new main my White Knight along with a I/L wizard as my secondary. But it is only now that I grow to miss playing as an archer... But I can't bring myself to play my Ranger again. It wasn't because his damage was mediocre compared to my Wind Archer, it's more the skill path I took. Back when I became a Ranger the common path was to get strafe first. But after getting to 84 at windraiders and the terrible experience I get at squids I can't bring myself to play with my only option being jr newties when they are an extreme pain to get to and my damage isn't spectacular. It was only after taking the arrow rain path on my wind archer that I was able to realize the amount of training spots I'm missing out on. Also considering that I want to re-live the archer-hood live I came up with these three options. I can tough it out on my current Ranger, re-create my Ranger, or create a separate character altogether; a crossbowman. Continuing with my current Ranger would obviously save a lot of time despite being difficult and a big pain. If I remake my character I'd be able to take the arrow rain path and get through 3rd job a lot easier. I'd also have the 12 stat hat and all the pre-scrolled bows from before. Also with all my prior knowledge of training spots and skills I'll be able to get to his level in easily half the time. Making a Crossbowman to me would be weird. Not because I don't like Crossbowman o.o but because having two separate archers would be strange to me. And also if I get to third job my Ranger would most likely be left in the dust. I myself am leaning towards the second option but I'm not entirely sure. So that's why I'm asking you, basil market bowman forums, despite how much I dislike "which class should I choose?" threads. So please vote and leave your opinion below :3 And please don't just vote based upon class pride alone, I won't count those >.>

I think U should Just finish your Archer and get it over with, I mean set a goal level or something or Take a Break from MS altogether.

Stick with your ranger. You can't compare an adventurer class, at least one created quite a long time ago, with a cygnus class before at least 120. Strafe, shouldn't be all that bad. All you're missing out on, is vikings and the almighty boring typhons. You could try out something like nightshadows, but it might be a little tough for your level, even the one that's not in cwk. Sniping at newts isn't all that hard to get to, all you need is around 1.9, or 2k hp. Tough it out, and once you add some arrow rain, I'm sure you'll love gobies :D

I think you should Re-create your ranger ;3 It obviously looks like you want to do that, and as you said, you'd get the 12stat hat and prescrolled bows from what you used on your current Ranger. But also, if you tough it out on your current Ranger, it won't take *too* long to fix your skills if you level, will it? ;o

I am facing the same problem as you are. My ranger is level 87 and it has 21 strafe, 18 rain, 6 puppet, 1 inferno, and 1 hawk and I've kind of lost my motivation. But I've found that playing turning the 2x exp events I've been able to level up a couple times and I've come close to getting 21 rain which will allow me to go to typhons and other 21 rain maps which will hopefully push me toward getting my ranger up and running again. I've been at gobies training since its pretty dead even in 2x exp events, so go there if you are having trouble. Good luck getting your ranger back on its leveling streak. ^_^

FreeinternetArrow Rain build has as much flexibility as Strafe first build. The experience at Squids isn't bad, and I actually find it fun to train on a map that Puppet is actually useful on. Not like you can put points into Arrow Rain right now, you are completely capable of doing so, and when you do that, with level 6 Puppet, 20+ Strafe, and 11+ Arrow Rain, almost every single map in the training guide at your level range (or maybe all of the maps) will become trainable for you, so you can hop to where ever you want to go. I am a Goby kind of guy though, I love those things, heck they are my monster book cover. There is more than just Typhons as an Archer, as said before, there are Spirit Vikings, Squids are actually fairly fun, you can mess around at Death Teddies, ect.

The problem is that I have maxed strafe and only one point in puppet with the rest in arrow rain. I had tried squids before and I always had problems with the bottom part where most people use arrow rain or puppet to lure then bomb. But my puppet just couldn't last long enough. So all that left me was trying to mob with pkb which got me killed many a times. Overall I'm still leaning towards recreating him, I might even use his same IGN but I kinda like the sound of RudyReborn xD
mmofan : why would u want the +12 stat hat.... stop being noob and get a zhelm. you should have it at your lvl anyway
maybe because he only has 10 mil to spend on his character and also maybe he wants to EARN his zhelm like in the old days. Not everyone is rich enough to be able to get a zhelm whenever there character is level 50.

Freeinternet
mmofan : why would u want the +12 stat hat.... stop being noob and get a zhelm. you should have it at your lvl anyway
Some people actually like earning things in games. When I got my Zakum Helmet I had no satisfaction out of buying it. But when I was able to go on a Crimson Wood Keep run and eventually loot a Mark of Narcian, it just felt so much better. The item has more meaning than if you would have just bought it.
mmofan : why would u want the +12 stat hat.... stop being noob and get a zhelm. you should have it at your lvl anyway
When I played my Ranger I didn't get a zhelm. And even when I did get one on my Wind Archer I was overall disappointed that it only added like 50 points to my attack range even at a level like 8x where stat gains mean more, it wasn't worth the 70mil I bought it at back when SoK first came out at all. Its far more useful on my warrior for the acc bonus than it would be on my archer. Although I will buy one when I need the extra str for capping lower. Other than that I find the helm a big waste of money on an archer, especially at a low level.

Personally, I wish I went the strafe build. Typhons costs way to much in my opinion, and there are a ton of Ksers. With Newts, you can just snipe to your life's end without having to worry about anything (Mini-dungeon). Also, you say your damage is bad? My range of 1004-1880 is like the range of a level 7-8x going from the Damage Range Thread.

Id say start a crossbowman. Its similar enough to get your 'bowman fix', strong enough to compete with your wind archer, and different enough so you dont get bored to tears. I did the same thing on my 74 ranger, and I didnt regret it for a second.

If you can get there fast enough, and don't plan to add to Strafe at all, then start over. If it'll take you a little while to do it, or if you plan to add to Strafe eventually on your new Ranger/Crossbowman, just stick with this Ranger until you get Arrow Rain.

Seriously squids aren't as bad as you think. I went the traditional strafe first build and squid parties were good exp. I miss them now
