[/quote] Uhh, you do know these ppl actually get payed to enter these competitions, right? That's what makes them a professional. Just like how you would call a doctor a professional because they get paid to save lives. |

[/quote] Professional implies two things: One, that you have a (somewhat) unique job that pays you well--for instance, someone who is not just a doctor but a neurosurgeon, or cardiologist. Two, that you're very good, if not the best, at what you do. Dr. James Andrews, then, would be considered a professional athletic surgeon (I believe he works orthopedics). |
