Is it just me or should you be able to close a thread to stop: • Flaming • Wrong section • Mispelled titles • etc

[/quote] Closing one's own thread is a great idea. I would have used it plenty of times. You know the TS meant just closing your own threads, not anyone else's, right? @ Above: Well, I haven't gotten replies to most of them yet, and it's been around a week. Good to know the "most-qualified for moderating" basilers are on top of things. Also, trying to ask a moderator something, half the time I get BS replies. And let's not forget the smart guy replies on the forums: For example... If moderators don't feel like moderating for at least half the time when they're on basil, then they should give basilers simple freedoms such as locking their own thread when needed.

GameFAQs allows users to close their own topics after they reach a certain account level. As long as someone doesn't post in the topic after five minutes of inactivity, the topic creator can close his/her it. I personally don't see much harm in implementing a system like this at all.

It will never happen. I've suggested it a few times and it always gets shot down by a mod. IIRC the reason is because it would make people get away with flaming others where mods wouldn't know. For instance, if a thread gets five pages of responses of people fighting and a mod isn't on, if the TS locks the thread it'll go away and the mods won't notice. Or something like that. All I know is that it's a good idea, yet it gets shot down for something stupid.
