How can I reduce lag?

Hi guys. I want to know how I can reduce my lag. I bought a new computer and it's Vista, and when I play Maple I my lag is very 'choppy' like. I lag in every map, except small maps like pot shops, armor shops, etc. But I get insane lag when I'm in large maps like Orbis and that Aran Penguin Place (whatever it's called) it's worse than ever. I have no running background programs. Any help would be appreciated. And also would I need to provide more info about my comp?

Lower the quality of the background or remove some unwanted crap from your computer, that's pretty much what I did to keep my MapleStory lag-free. And I have a Vista aswell.

[/quote] I've lowered the quality a long time ago, it helps a little bit. And I don't have many programs on my computer

There's probably a lot of unwanted processes running on your computer, I recommend Game Booster.

I have the same problem. I just bought a computer and it has Windows 7. I get this weird choppy lag every 30 minutes. I also have a internet connection problem I don't know how to fix.

If you have just recently installed vista, then it might be that you have to install a driver for your graphics card. Thats should fix it if you haven't installed the driver yet. Pm me if you need more help

I have vista but i never lag. My quality is fine but you can use task manager to end some processes that you never use that take up a few KB which can help by a little amount nonetheless.

Are you running it in admin?I have Vista too. I ran it w/o Admin, lagged like crazy. Try running it in admin, lower the quality. Was it a cheap one?

If you are using a laptop, put it on high-performance. Otherwise, close all the programs that you have on. BTW, what is you RAM right now?

Don't forget to do a system clean up, virus check and spyware check as well, clean it all up if u can, oh yeah... and avoid certain sites XD
