If you guys could check it out give some feedback, i am not anti-homosexual, but disagree with the fact that homosexuals should be able to be married, i do not however use the bible as support for any of my reasons. I could care less if somebody is gay, i just dont want them getting married. I also have my sources cited. Aye, or nay for gay marriage? When people "tie the knot" and get married, they exchange vows, and say "I do." For centuries marriage has existed. The main intention: to keep two people who love each other together for the better or worst. Marriage also aims at procreation for insuring the survival of the human race. Today however, the definition of marriage is changing, and people have mended the original meaning of it. Gay marriage, it has become a global phenomenon, with either great opposition or support. It's a controversy that expands into many areas of living a "normal" married couple's life. Like many conservative people, I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman. Putting aside the criticism it faces by religious groups, I believe that logically, gay marriage does not make sense from an unbiased point of view. Marriage, it was ceremony created by the church, primarily for keeping interests within the religion. It's the ceremony that bonds two people to each other with the same interests in an agreement. Homosexual couples are very capable of doing this, as well as any other heterosexual couples, with the exception of keeping the interests of the church. Personally, I see no reason why they should have to get married. If two people love each other, they don't need to have their name signed, or printed on a certificate, or contract to signify it. Marriage was created by the church, not by the state, and therefore it shouldn�t legally be illegal, or against civil rights if denied by the church the right to it. Religion and government are clearly two different institutions set apart by the government itself. I believe that people should therefore respect the church's rules and views on it. If gay marriages were to be legalized, it would enforce churches to abide to the law's enforcement of gay marriage. It could very well mean the end of churches within the states because churches only follow the "law of god". Gay marriage may even be considered a "special" right if it's made legal everywhere, if you asked me. The majority of the population is heterosexual as determined by the 2000 census, and this is why it would be considered a "special" right to those few individuals. People should all be equal, and giving "special" rights to a certain minority would be a violation of civil rights itself. "The 2000 U.S. Census Bureau found that homosexual couples constitute less than 1% of American households. The Family Research Report says "around 2-3% of men, and 2% of women, are homosexual or bisexual" (Robinson). "I do not believe homosexual couples have been born for the "better," only because they cannot reproduce. Logic should become common sense, and if all people were to turn gay that means our race would one day cease to exist. However if our race was all heterosexual, that means our race would live on." If the world one day is taken over by gay guys and women, there is no reason our race would "cease to exist". There will still be women? Yes. Therefore the making of a child is still possible. Did we gay guys tick a button saying we are now unable to reproduce because we are gay? No. We still are able, just don't because we aren't with a women. Unless of course you inseminate someone. That's the only thing I have against your essay.. And the only benefit of marriage I see are the ones straight couples get when they get married, insurance, security, etc.
