| So i'm making an luckless i/l for the perfect pitch event. This is only my second time making an i/l, the first made it to 35 or so and died. I have to say, this time I am much more satisfied with my i/l in terms of damage, training speed, and overall performance. I do however, have a couple of questions. NEW Training: How does lightening fare against twisted jesters in late 2nd job / early 3rd? They might be the answer to our hell levels, because they mob a lot, give good exp, and there are many sniping spots. What about windraiders? The map is very mobby, but i have only seen one mage there... I remember going from 70-80 in 4hrs of 2x, so i think its a good training spot. Keep in kind, i basically have to get to lv 100 by the end of the month... Lightning Bolt: Does its attack radius increase as skill points are added? there is no mention of it in either the skill tables on Basil, or the skill description in-game. What about its casting speed? to me, it seems a bit faster than magic claw. this may just be an illusion however. What about vertical range? It seems to hit monsters below your character a lot more readily than monsters above you, does vertical range increase at all? Cold Beam: About what level does it replace magic claw tactically? Damage wise? What about overall? Does its range increase with points added? How does the casting speed compare to magic claw? I thank you in advance for your wisdom for a novice in the artes of electricity and frost. |

| I believe nothing changes except damage in thunderbolt. Unless I forgot about it. Either way, the horizontal range is acceptable. Thunderbolt is more of a flat attack, only attacking a single platform. I believe the range is set. Speed never changes in any attacks. Cold beam replaces magic claw at around level 15. It works better on ice weak monsters too, but you shouldn't take off magic claw off your configuration, as it is still useful. Really, cold beam is just a finisher in second/third job. It's more useful at third job, truthfully. |

No. [quote] Zenarkenstin : Cold Beam: About what level does it replace magic claw tactically? Damage wise? What about overall? Does its range increase with points added? I use an x360 controller and space is kinda limited. From the other answers you provided, looks like it is replaced at around lv26, since it does around the same damage and freezes. Thank you all for your helpful contributions :D |

I don't know how much questing you plan to do, but there are some that require you to kill monsters that are resistant to ice. When that happens, magic claw is your best friend. Also, I sometimes use it as a finisher because it technically uses less mp.... although this is very rarely because the difference is so insignificant. Hm, I don't know what a x360 controller is but if you really don't have room, I'd wait until a highish level of cold beam (mid to high 20s) so that the mastery percentage is high enough to keep the damage stable... |

| Both Jesters and Windraiders are bad for I/l, and any Magician except for Pizards. Jesters are only good for Pizards from lvl 50-80. Magicians' hell levels are suppose to be from lvl 70-77/78. However, with MP3 and GS5, it isn't really all too bad. |
