| Well I've always dreamed to be a doctor and I know I'll become one no matter what. However I been having trouble with my grades this semester(I'm currently a freshman) and I'm scared this will ruin my chance for good scholarships and class ranking later on. This semester I currently have: Comm Apps - 95 Spanish 1 -79 Geometry preap - 85 Bio preap- 95 Honors band-98 english 1 preap -91 Geography preap - 87 As you can see, I struggle in Spanish and Geometry. I know I can easily raise my grade in geography and English. I know I'm pretty good in school, but i feel like I have so much more potential. However, I almost never do my homework on time....and like I can't concentrate in class. I recently isolated myself away from friends to reduce talking, but it's still hard for me to concentrate...I feel the need to interact instead of just sitting and listening and i get easily distracted. I just don't know If I'll be able to raise all my grades to above 95 before the report card (in a month). I know you may think I'm trying to show off, but I have really high expectations and so do my parents... Please give me help on how to concentrate better, less procrastination, and maybe be able to raise my grades, and reduce stress. Thanks. Being optimistic: Actually, I may be able to raise my Spanish grade up dramatically by doing extra credit. My teacher allows us to do worksheets that are usually vocab and is front and back (usually re-writing 50 words 20 times each) and they are worth 3 points each. I also have a Spanish test Tuesday that I can ace... Then for Geometry I have a quiz that I can ace if I study...and then a major grade project. For geography I can get a high grade on my binder check. |

| Be more chill, I never get stressed like this over school. I think that's why I do so well. Just relax a little and you will be able to focus a little more on priorities. |

| I stopped reading after you said you were a freshman. Junior/senior year are the only ones that matter for college applications. Then you just have to keep your college grades and GPA high for grad school. |
It's hard though...because I see other people getting straight A's...then i come home to hear my parents gripe about how my sister is making them pay so much money for tuition because she didn't get a lot of scholarships. My main problem: I CAN'T PAY ATTENTION |

I had a 3.986 GPA out of 4.000 (got 1 B+ my freshman year), so four people were ahead of me within that 0.014 points of GPA. Spanish class is the only class I currently have an A in, for whatever reason it comes to me easily. On the other hand, I just got a D- on my last chemistry exam and that was an improvement. I might not be doing pre-med anymore. =/ |

| Man, even when I'm optimistic I end up doing really crappy on a test. Freshman year isn't as important as your sophomore and more importantly, your junior year. Senior year isn't that important because you apply to schools before the first semester even ends. So just start making good habits this year and make sure you maintain them for at least the next two years. |

My main problem: I CAN'T PAY ATTENTION
I'm like that too, can't really sit down in a classroom all day. I get by due to the fact that my teachers let us use our Ipods. Also, don't worry about your sister and what she did/didn't do. Worry about yourself and what you know you can do to help yourself. Starting there will help you accomplish your goals. |

| If this helps, I'd recommend tape recording your teacher. For some that works, my friend has to take these pills to stay awake >_> So he just basically records it and listens to it at home. Overall don't stress too much, just wait till college and you'll find out what stress really is =P But Good luck! |

| You're just a freshman. Unless you REALLY tank this year and continue screwing up, it won't affect anything. There's still 3 more years of suffering ahead of you. Don't isolate yourself from your friends. You'll probably wind up more depressed/lonely and your mentality will screw up your concentration more. Maybe try talking to them about what's going on in class. That way you'll stay on track and maybe learn more from conversation. Also try managing your time. Set aside time at home to do your homework. You should know what you want to do and how long it'll take to do your homework/study. |

| If you're striving to become a doctor for sure, whatever college you go for undergrad doesn't matter too much. You can major in literature and still get into a really good med school as long as you pass the exam, so don't stress about high school too much. |

| I've noticed its not the optimism thats going to get your grades higher, its the amount of effort you want to put in. Doing>thinking. |
