What all can an iPhone do that is so impressive? How much is a used one worth now without service? Are there restrictions to the applications? What makes them so popular? Is there a difference between an iPhone and an iPod touch? I am utterly lost.

pretty much what malapo said. It's really expensive to buy one without a contract, although I don't know how much people on ebay/craigslist will charge you for it. You can call people on the iphone (you can technically do that on the ipod touch, but it's more of a hassle) iphone has 3g coverage. ipod touch uses wi-fi. Not a lot of places have free wi-fi.

[/quote] A major part of the contract is the 3G. I have to pay a lot for the 3g part. I have 4gb of bandwith and I think it cost 40dollers :S

Something I find impressive about the iPhone is the app store... With over 1000000 apps... "there's an app for that". The Browser (safari) is great and easy to use, as a matter of fact, I'm on basil market forums on it now Ive been thru 3 blakberries in a life time, the pearl, curve and bold... Ever since changing over to the iPhone, I have no plans on changing back. If you're thinking of going for an iPhone, I'd suggest waiting for the new 4g.
