Why do I regret every decision I make in life?

I loved my life until high school started. The upper-classmen were crude and rough, teasing me because I was small. In reaction, I practiced being unemotional; I wanted to make sure that their attempts would not appear to disrupt my life. Now, in my Junior year, I'm having trouble exiting this emotional void. I've lost most of my closest friends from lack of contact/real conversation- I've lost the ability to communicate my feelings in a direct way. What can I do? I don't want to continue the rest of high school quiet, reserved, and cold to others and I certainly would not be able to handle a whole life with no one else.

Go to social events and show people who you really are. If you can be a great guy, someone's bound to notice that potential at those social events. xD

purposely try to express yourself until it becomes natural/instinct. Plus, now that nothing else is promoting you to be neutral, you should slowly recover.

I know this sounds so childish, but how do I make friends? Everytime I approach someone and try to smile, it seems forced and people get uncomfortable. I think attending any social events would make me feel even more of an outcast - people always hang out in groups.

Is that a Zen statement or are you trying to help? I've tried to make friends but I can only do it when I'm in front of the computer. I need to plan my thoughts, make sure that I don't say something stupid in front of others- something difficult to do in real life.

[/quote] Um, find someone that could even be remotely interested in hanging out with you. Then approach them casually and start conversation. Over a few days, repeat and they'll get used to seeing you. And to the point of them coming to pursue you, congratulations, you've made a friend! :D Then sooner or later, they'll introduce you to their friends, and now you've got yourself a click. Then once people see you're not socially awkward anymore, more people will want to be your friend. Hope this helped. :P
