Why do people start auctions at like 5m for expensive items.

Why do people start auctions at like 5m for expensive items. Then refuse to trade when the item doesn't get the price they wanted? Why don't you just set the damn price at the price you want?

Because they're idiots. Even setting a reserve will take care of that problem, but people don't do that either. I guess the most you can do is leave negative feedback since they didn't trade. In case you couldn't tell, it annoys me too xD

The thing about negative feed back is, it doesn't go through unless the other person leave feedback too. So a person who does this can maintain a 100% feedback. Huge flaw in basil if you ask me.

it is because they want to attract bidders to fight over the price keeping track of the item and in the end get more money than if they got 1 person to bid on it

when you put an auction up you put a starting price and a/w price, and a hte lowest price youd sell for, so if you dont reach that lowest price then even if your the higher bidder you wont win. so they could set it like 1m lower than the a/w price which is retarded - -

Reality is, basilmarket isn't a binding contract. BECAUSE it's not legally binding, people think they can do what they want, including refusing to sell an item for the won price.

Whats the point of bidding on one, or spend time winning something for a lower price if the person's just going to deny it anyways?
