I don't think people understand the meaning of Otaku. Otaku is someone obsessed with video games, manga, or anime. However, they're not as bad as weeaboos. Weeaboos are.... Out and about I guess..... Otaku are nerds. Also, Otaku aren't limited to anime or manga. Also, Otaku doesn't mean a wannabee Japanese person, it's just someone who likes anime, manga, or video games. So, it's okay if someone says they're otaku.

Most otaku's however, are NEET, and they don't really contribute to society. (That's mainly in Japan) i don't see why people call white people "otaku" that irks me.
