Actually yes it is illegal. In most states age of consent is age 16. It's 14 in a few others like Road Island. If you are caught here is what will happen to you. You will be charged with statutory raep, and convicted as a sex offender. Due to being underage though you'd probably get two years max in jail. All though there is a chance that you are convicted as an adult. There is an old saying which kind of goes with this... "16 will get you 20" Having sex under 18 is always risky business. Even if she gave consent and her parents are pissed there is always a chance that they will try to get you convicted of some raep law. It's very common unfortunately. Be safe bro.
