Graphics card question

Well my moms comp is running like really slow and it is about 6 years old. Would an old graphics card slow the computer?

no it hasnt always been thi slowy just within the past 6 months she has 1gb of ram 38gb hd 1.9 ghz processer and idk what graphics card she currently has

As far as I know a graphics card is unlikely to cause your system to slow down. Have you tried cleaning out your register, defragging or possibly even reformatting the computer?

Actually, if the graphics card is malfunctioning, it could very well cause a computer to slow down while booting up or even to crash. I would recommend googling the name of your graphics card, and seeing if there are any updates available for it.

[/quote] aight the computer was fine and then it all of a sudden started running terribly slow it takes like 5 minutes just to open up internet exsplorer and its home page is set on blank page so there is nothing to actually load she had 512 mb of ram which is what i thought the prob was so she has upgraded to 1gb of ram and its just as slow as for register fix yea we ran programs to fix that and defraged comp and all that good stuff and as far as i know there isnt any viruses as i did a scan wit spyware doctor and macfee and returned no viruses or anything and it takes her liek 12 hours to refomate so she dosnt rlly want to do that

All that crap ( registry fixers antivirus antispyware etc.) is slowing your computer down Back up imprtant stuff ad reformat, it shouldn't take 12 hours
