Help on Lvl 2 Maker Quest

So I start the quest by talking to Moren and he asks me to make one "Intermediate Monster Crystal 1". I look up the monster level ranges and find the drops have to be within 71~80. Homunculus ( Lvl 73 ) are the closest thing in Magatia I assume, so I chose to hunt them. Getting 100 monster drops and making the crystal is not a big deal...but the problem is that I have done this 7 friggin times alrdy...each time the dude rejects my crystal...so I'm begging to wonder if I missed something? I have checked around and it seems like you only need to complete Lvl 1 Maker...I am also beginning to wonder if I should just hunt some other monster... Any helpful responses welcome...Thanks

odd, i made one and he rejected it, but the second one he accepted, maybe its something to do wit h the quality, since one of the other npc's mention you sometimes make better ones

it's okay, there's nothing wrong, it's through luck or something. I disassembled a level 70 item and used pretty much all of the 6 that it got me. i had like one or two left i think not too sure though.

the Gordon pendant isnt required, i did all 3 maker quests at once, and didnt get the pendant until after

so it seems I am one of the few unlucky ones =/...but since blaming luck cant get anything done, did any1 else try creating crystals through Homunculus's or did you go all the way to Leafre? I know it shouldnt matter...but I am willing to try somthing new to see if it helps o.O ~ and as for dissembling items for crystals, I dont have any cheap lvl 80 gear to sacrifice.
