I was curious as to how difficult it is to mount/dismount the battleship, since im lineant towards either pirate class, this is the only reason for me not to make a gunslinger.

By the time you're high level, you don't really need to dismount for any minor attack. The only times you really should dismount is when the boss you're fighting enters some sort of invincibility mode, or when you need to gain distance. Dismounting to conserve ship HP at higher levels is unnecessary, since the HP is very high already and the cool down time is pretty low.

masamuneeEven at lower levels, it's not really that hard. You break your ship the first few times, but once you learn the signals for a monster's magic attack; you won't really have that much of a problem. Although I'm extremely OCD; if my ship even takes a single scratch, even from being at the wrong place during a monster spawn. I will just have it die and wait out 90 seconds. I've got to stop doing that since it hinders my training a lot.

It casts like a mount, a pot or dark sight. It's easy enough to come out of battleship as soon as you see skele/zakum/oblivion attacking and to go back on it.

sleepyxdudeNot really that hard. Just place the button some place where you can easily press it.

As soon as you get the skill, it may take a little time to get completely used to (took me a few days) But once you do get used to the whole idea of mounting/dismounting and everything, it's really quite simple to do

I'm going to say something slightly different from everyone else here. Yes the dang thing is always going to hinder you. You always need to protect yourself, and you always need to keep your eye out for monsters so they won't bump into your ship. Especially when you are in your low 12x it's going to be a huge bother because of the fact that you need to switch between two playing styles, and because it can hardly survive a few hits. If you want a class where you constantly have to keep your eye open and focus on maple, you might want to consider playing a Corsair. But I learned pretty soon that watching TV and play maple at the same time was alot more easy on my other characters.
