Feedback should have nothing to do with posting rights.

You see. During this time, there is a growing population of Basilers, especially the regular posters, those who include me. A good percentage of those regular basilers have quit maplestory, and therefore cannot or do not use auctions anymore. Some of these people might think their name sucks, and since Mr. Basil won't/refuses to include a new name option or even delete their accounts they make new ones. I say this because there are many restrictions involving posting rights due to low feedback. An example would be get +5 feedback or have limited posts and cannot quote (unless you insert the bbcode in your posts), or wait for 2 weeks. Another would be having to get 50+ feedback to post links, or wait for 3 months. Feedback should not be relevant to posting rights, as people who would want to post in the forums might just feedback scam instead, ruining the auction system in progress and so many fake bids. Here's a better idea, remove those limits on postings for new accounts, and the other privileges can be earned through postings. To prevent people bawwwing and complaining about establishing elitism, this count of posts cannot be seen by anyone, not even yourself. As for having more trolls, that's probably not going to happen or even make much difference if it happens, there are too many people posting parody threads and making racist threads for people to even care about it anymore, because there are simply too many of them. This is a much more sensible solution, what happens in the auctions/feedback should stay in auctions.

I say no -please dont flame me- because if we had the "old rules" (the one I've heard of, anyway) then a lot of trolls would be gone, right? If you need a certain amount of feed to post, then some trolls wouldn't bother. If you're dedicated to Basil, then just wait the 2 weeks. Pm people links. Though the Feedback scams is a good reason against my claim, you should look at someone's feedback when they bid on your item. Vice versa. If it's bad, reject their bid/don't bid on that item. Edit: Nobody else wants to explain? o-o

I believe the feedback rule doesn't really solve any problems. If someone was really intent on trolling Basilmarket up, then they would create multiple accounts to get feedback. I mean, I could do that if I really felt like it. What do you mean "earned by postings"? Posting privileges shouldn't be based on the quantity of their posts, but rather their quality. Here's what I propose: I can take a good guess that Basilmarket doesn't get 10,000 new members per day. Maybe at most 20. This number is relatively easy to control. New members are put into a list, and whenever they comment, a sign will come up on the moderator's list saying so and so posted this and this. Moderators can then choose to check the quality of their posts. (they only get a set amount of posts per day). If the moderator deems the user worthy of posting, then the moderator can check him off the list. He/she is free. Of course, the problem is that the moderator team is short-staffed at the moment, so this kind of system wouldn't work as of now.

That'd be kinda useful in the forums. (I think so, anyway) I'd really like that. Posting privileges should be based on their quality cause then those who are helpful stay in the forums, and those who are generally rude and unpleasent can stay out. But then, biased opinions on people posting would arise, swaying people's votes to vote up for the person they like, not the comment. :X It's so difficult, you know?

My star member suggestion was a response to the feedback / time on basil rule, but the problem is that with a community like basil, which is sprawling, super active, and hard to control, not to mention not the maturest bunch all of the time, it's hard to give any user ability like the thumbs up system or star system. I kinda like your idea, but it still seems like a nuisance.

No (entirely accurate) way to differentiate approximately. @above I totally agree. I'm the first poster and when I first came it was 2 votes for yes and 0 for no. I clicked no, posted, and ever since then the no catagory went up. I feelz so speshul. X3 (with help from Above and 2 above. 8D)

I agree, it shouldn't have to do anything with posting rights, but at the same time, it allows restrictions for trollers and such. I'm sure you can wait 3 months just to post links.
