I have a huge pet peeve about people with 0 feedback betting on high-worth items. (Not +1 then -1 feedback, NONE AT ALL) It seems as though people use mule accounts on Basil with 0 feedback to bid on their items to make them seem more valuable. For example, I'm bidding on a Dark Gigantic on Khaini and the starting bid was 4mil (4 million mesos) and it's jumped to 11, my bid currently being the highest. However, the ONLY opposing person is a person with ZERO feedback, and only has one character up, a warrior and thus; from face value; has no need for a Dark Gigantic, so bidding on it seems a little strange. I know for a fact that many people make accounts here on Basil and when their item isn't selling for enough they bid on it with a mule, expecting someone else to outbid them. The upside, if a person bids higher than their mule, they have achieved their goal. If no one bids higher than their mule, they CAN give themselves feedback for a trade that won't take place AND they can just try again. Downside? You tell me. I know this happens because many people talk about it on Maple, and several of my friends do it. I think it's completely unfair and that people with less than 5 feedback shouldn't be able to bid on items worth more than 5mil. Yes, that's a bit harsh because some of the items are expensive and they need to build up feedback somehow. BUT, you could even make it a post required as well. I'm just in a fit that I'll be bidding against this person who has a mule going against me. Of course I could stop bidding on the item, and I chose to stop at 11mil, but still, this could be a problem for many people.

intimacy : i have 0 feedback. don't discriminate if you had 0 feedback why would you be wanting to buy something over 5 mil anyway?
Blazeeeee 09/08/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
I used to have around 2, but it got reset. So now I have 0.

It's not discrimination, it's a fair thing. I don't think it's fair for me to pay a too high of a price for an item because someone is using their mule to outbid me. It's just not fair.

Okay then, if what you say is implemented they can put an inexpensive item up, and autowin it for under 2 mil. positive feedback, and then your system is broken, beaten and ashamed. Sorry, there's no workaround.

Macaroni : if you had 0 feedback why would you be wanting to buy something over 5 mil anyway? i wouldn't, but not for the reason of me having 0 feedback. that wouldn't change anything in the matter. i wouldn't, because i don't play maplestory and i don't use the auctions.

And how would you know he was a merchant? Also, how would you know if it was his mule?

I can only imagine a few reasons why you would be looking to pay more than 5 million on something with 0 feedback;1 1) you don't use basilmarket auctions, in which case this doens't even affect you 2) You are looking to screw around with auctions but don't want to get banned on a main account, so you make a whole bunch of fakes and start bidding.

Dazeonae 09/08/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
That's true, they can't autowin anything but still, they can either not set an autowin for their items or set it really high. By the way, my problem is because I'm bidding on that claw and NO ONE ELSE is bidding but me and this person with 0 feedback. JUST me and this one person. So it's just a bit odd.

Scenario: I need to buy some glove attack scrolls, usually I use the fm, but I'm too lazy to find "normally" priced ones. I just discovered a site called basilmarket. I use it to buy some glove attack scrolls. I can give more scenarios if this one does not satisfy you.

Good idea. :3 There should probably be a limit (not necessarily 5 mil) to prevent fake bidders.

Macaroni : if you had 0 feedback why would you be wanting to buy something over 5 mil anyway? Maybe because you're an extremely rich merchant with billions of mesos and a well funded 4th job character and you want to use Basilmarket for the first time, instead of spending billions in the FM like you always do. Ever thought about that?
