Massive FPS lag?

Everytime I play MapleStory on my Vista laptop. . . the one I'm using now, I ALWAYS, ALWAYS experience hardcore FPS lag (where I attack and my computer takes a while to show the animation). I tried using a fan, and that only delayed the massive lap for about 20 more minutes. It's a HP Pavilion dv2700 notebook PC. Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 2.00GHz Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB I was wondering if anyone could help me fix this problem. Thanks in advance! I would really appreciate any kind of help. I haven't been able to play MS on my laptop for a year or so.

I had the same problem like you but, I somehow mangaged to fix it. I have the same laptop as well. Everyone once in a while my fps would go down to 20-30 and it would go back to a normal 60. It was very annoying. One thing I did was have my battery power in balance and not in high performance. This seemed to fix my lag. I also defragged my computer and updated all my drivers. Try these suggestions and hopefully this helps.

im guessing, it has a nvidia geforce go 7150m 630m. as for options, cooling it down will work, also turning off power mizer can possibly work

did you choose best performance in control panel settings? also try this it helped some guy earlier 0verlord007 : Do this. I did it and it worked after posting a thread similar to this earlier. If you don`t wanna keep going to the control panel and changing the resolution back and forth then I recommend this program [url=]http://download.cnet.com/Resolution-Changer-SX2/3000-2094_4-10468528.html?tag=mncol[/url] This can change your resolution without UAC interference and quickly change it back when your done.

Seriously. Laugh. Thanks for everyone's advice. Here are some things I left out: (Whoops!) I usually set my Power Plan to Balanced when I play. . . but that also just delays the lag. I have the NVDIA MCP67M graphics card. edit: I have everything updated. (:

This has to do with your ram and the amount of traffic your Cpu usage is experiencing. If you have windows, open up task manager now I use this technique on First person shooting games since it requires a whole lot more out of your computer. Obviously, you want to log off of any other logins, okay so when you have Windows Task Manager open go to processes. Find Maplestory.exe and right-click it and change the priority to Realtime/ High Priority. What that does is that it focuses your CPU load more on Maplestory then other processes. Another thing is that you want to close out of your unnecessary processes. End processes to things like firefox.exe,xfire.exe,itunes.exe. If you have them running in task manager you can go look at the "Mem Usage(memory usage)" and like right now firefox is 225,309 K which is a lot. Now you dont want to end processes that are under "System" and "Local Service" only close the programs you recognize. If this doesn't work which I doubt that will happen, I have another trick that'll help you with your problem, but its more time consuming and I think this'll work just great.

does your fan in the laptop turn on when you lag? or is it lag straight from when you run maple

Cool down laptop, set power plan to high performance, close the things that use up a lot of memory =p That's what I do and it works pretty well

Install the game on a different drive, because any game i install to C: lags, because Maplestory is in there so I don't know if that's just me or what but I guess it's worth a shot.
