so. my maple plays fine for about 30 minutes and shuts down because the lack of RAM. Now, to fix this, i'm looking to buy a 512mb graphics card for about 50 dollars or a dual 1G set of RAM for about 40-50. my computer is vista with 1g of RAM and my card is a pretty weak business intel 250mb or around there. Which one would be the probable cause? im actually hoping for the graphics card because it would also speed things up a bit.. Thanks

It's both, because vista pretty much requires 2GB+ and intel integrated graphics just suck.

Agreed. but would the card fix it?

2x1GB DDR2 ram is like $18 if you order from tigerdirect or newegg. for the graphics card, upgrading to a dedicated card with 256MB more will make a difference.

If its shutting down then its likely due to overheating, not lack of resources. If you were running out of resources, Windows would tell you and try to close programs.

Get the RAM upgrade anyway. But which graphics card where you looking for? I would recommend a dual slot one, becouse they're mostly a lot cooler and (thus) perform better.

vRAM isn't everything, ya know... Just because it's 512MB doesn't mean it's a good card. Most cards already have 512MB vRAM. 2GB RAM for 40-50? That's really expensive...

Hold up there tiger. If your computer is shutting down, why do you assume it's RAM? I played MS on a 1GB Vista system fine.

davd127 : Down with Intel, Ati+Amd Ftw I hope you know that ATI is technically AMD. Also, AMD gets destroyed by Intel at high end CPU's, since you know, AMD has nothing.

First of all you have to figure out if your computer actually has slots for the ram and graphics card, and if they're compatible

Unless by max you mean without AA/AF and on a not amazingly high resolution.
