Ram or Hard Drive space?

Hi, so I'm planning to do my first successful Zakum run, but my computer sucks. So first, I want to clarify which is better overall ( not just for Zakum Running) RAM or Hard Drive space? I want my boots to be faster. I don't really use many programs but if I do, I'd need more Hard drive space. But if my computer gets slow, I eventually need Ram. Ram or Hard drive space? I already have CCcleaner and Advanced Systemcare Pro programs but I just need answers. Stats:MS Windows XP Home SP3 ( Windows XP Home Edition, On Service Pack 3) Mobile AMD Sempron Proccessor 2800+( I don't know what that means 382 RAM and 55 GG of Memory, about 15g of which has been taken up ATI Radeon Xpress 200M ( My video card) Please pitch in answer and poll, and please help me. Thanks. I'm also looking for cheap Ram or hard drives at any safe website or store. Also, is it really neccessary to buy a new comp instead of buying ram/ hard drive? FusionSpirit : CPU = In your situation its the AMD Sempron which I don't think is upgradeable anymore. Same thing with my computer back in 2004 with the AMD Athlon XP 2800+. GPU = Your graphics, ATi Xpress 200M. [Edit] Crap my bad. Since your using a laptop you won't be able to upgrade anything except the Hard Drive and RAM. [Editx2] Even if you upgrade your RAM, you will probably still lag when you go to Zak. Is that really true<<<<? I havent really lagged unless i had crappy connections with my wireless.

i sugest you get like 3gb ram min (recommened from maplestory.nexon.net) and get get a very good graphics card for the fps maybe even a good sound card if you count on listening otherwise mute maplestory music and make backround quality lower all of this combined (except sound card) should get you a successfull run EDIT: Also make sure you have a good internet connection and not many people are on maple and on the general internet go on a low trafic time for both get min 56kbps internet connection with good high speed service provider but for a z run try to make sure you have at least 1 mbps it makes a difference for the informaton transfer1mb = 1000 kb EDIT 2: Also amd processors aren't that great, you should get an intel with intel core 2 duo at the min, try a quad core or i-7 if your on desktop and centrino 2 or quad on laptop

It's hard drive space.

Look at it this way, taking of a foot from the break pedal, doesn't make your car go faster, it stops it from slowing down... you really shouldn't call people idiots unless you know what you are talking about. RAM or random access memory has everything to do with how fast your computer can proses information being sent to it. thus the more RAM the faster your computer runs. the only other factor that might come into play would be your connection speed. your hard drive space will only effect your reboots because of all the processes it has to run threw. {edit} 2gb DRAM kits are only around $35. they are fairly easy to install and do wonders for your performance. definitely do it.

A hard drive will only start taxing on your ram and cpu when its near-full, as it requires a lot more power to process all the information on it. The larger your ram, the more tasks it allows, therefore allowing you to manage a fuller(?) hard drive. So it all concludes to more ram. You have a small amount. Don't know if you have any available slots, but you can check easily enough yourself.

More RAM =/= Better performance. You only need more, if you are at the point of paging like Skye and other have said in this post. To farther back up that point, there's basically no difference between 3GB to 12GB. If you just want faster boot times, get ram. I recently upgrade from 1 gb of DDR ram to 2 gbs of DDR2 ram and my boot time is amazingly faster =/ and it only cost me $50 CAD (Which could have been cheaper ==" damn TigerDirect.) otherwise the lag might be because of your internet =/

Even though he will upgrade his RAM, his graphics/processor might not be sufficient enough for Zak. Meaning when he goes to Zak, he will lag terribly. My cousin did a Zak with a connection of 256/64kb (which is crap) but he survived without lag. What do you mean AMD processors aren't that great. They work just as well as Intel processors. 'Core2Duo at the min.' You can play MapleStory with a Celeron Dual Core (Which I wouldn't recommend because Celeron's are crap) and it won't have any problems. You can play MapleStory on a netbook with the Intel Atom and it won't have any major problems. You don't need to have a hardcore gaming computer to be able to play Maple and Zak.

Not everything; only to the point where it doesnt bottleneck your CPU as far as processing information. Which makes sense since the CPU is a processor ( isnt logic grand ). More ram does not make your computer run faster; the two biggest values to look at are density and speed. If you have 4GB of ram thats too slow, you will have a slower computer. And yes that is possible.

i think that basically, ram is used for running programs, and the hard drive is used for storing information :S hard drive wont help one bit, unless ur planning on taking a lot of screen shots lol
