| It's a false positive. McAfee is known to do that, it seems. |

| Dont worry, i have it too and Hp updates and i dont see if for months. what it is, is a false positive. Mcaffee obviously didn't get rid of it cause it always pops up. It just happens to attach itself to an exe. which yours and my case is the maple story exe. Im pretty sure Mcaffee made this, which is really shady. They just want you to freak out, and fork over 40 bones to get rid of it. Its not bad or anything, it is a virus. but it doesn't pose any threat. Its primary objective is to sit there and have mcaffe find it and tell you its there. Like i said if you have an HP, they tend to get rid of it when you update every Tuesday. |

Ok, reformatting should always be the last resort. Also the problem he has is with his AV, as it is giving off a false report and McAfee is known to do this. But let say he does have an actual bad virus. He could get rid of it by doing a simple scan. Lastly, if this was an actual virus and he is going to reformat anyways, backing up your data is dumb, as you may also backup the virus without knowing. Meaning you have to do a scan anyways, or else, you could transferred the virus over, and you will be back where you started. Anyways, I suggest getting Avira or Avast! for your AV. |

| I got Macafee (from comcast, don't think it makes a difference but saying it anyways) and a vista too. I gotta redownload MS like every year or so (redownloaded for last patch, couldn't find right folder) and never heard of that. I'd just scan your computer, only takes 2-3 hoursish and if there's anything, it'll remove it. |
