BGM settings messed up

im having a problem with my bgm... i set it to "mute" but whenever i enter another map or even open my inventory, it turns back on in max volume (even tho i have it set to minimum as well... is there a way to fix this? am i the only one having this problem? ... i could just mute my computer and put on my ipod but.... meh...
