whats better at lvl 38 retz or cpq?

Definitely CPQ. Much more EXP, especially at that lvl.

unless it's TW or you have a godly party that doesn't mind sucky dmg, then retz most of the time the party would kick you out for bad dmg...well not necessarly bad but i mean 200's and 300's............. the regular adventure class has enough trouble dealing with the CK's but on top of that a gunslinger's dmg in 2nd job is destryoed by the Knight of Cygnus' overpowered and flashy moves

When I was around that level, I was doing X-masPQ but then again, it's not around. CPQ would probably be your better option of the 2.
