On my sisters basilid. ------------------------ Can anyone tell me why COD4 is so choppy? My specs reach recommended, and I have directx 10. I've played COD 4 for about 2 hours and its still choppy. SPECS 6GB RAM Pentium Dual Core 2.5GHz NVIDIA GeForce 9200 Windows Vista Home Premium. I've tried playing at 60fps to 125fps, and reduced all the excess graphics.

Your computer can't handle how the Call of Duty series sucks.

Obviously the processor... So much RAM but the processor should be better... I've played COD at 2.6 and it was still choppy at full settings... it was only at 3 ghz that it played right x]

Assuming you're playing online, check to see if the cable is damaged, modem is properly plugged in and you're joining games with low pings.

Bodysnatchers : Assuming you're playing online, check to see if the cable is damaged, modem is properly plugged in and you're joining games with low pings. Cable's fine. I've replaced it two days ago. Also, I overclock my CPU to 3.0GHz+ and it makes no difference.

My specs: 2 Gig RAM, Dual core 1.8 gHz, nVidea 8400 GT all in a laptop. Runs COD4 perfectly. U should ask a professional about it. Prolly some bug or something. My suggestion would be instead of overclocking your computer and stuff you should try to lower it all. Get your comp on energy saving might help. @below: my COD is on custom settings with mostly high. I don't have a choppy game. I think the reason is: you make your computer work too hard for just COD. I really suggest lowering your energy setting and make it your computer easy.

Its because call of duty plays on high graphic settings and since your comp has vista with those setting its gonna be choppy regardless what you do sorry =(

Problem is your GPU. Low end GPU's like yours can barely run dx10- resulting in crappy perofrmance. You cant use dx9 with vista.
