| Edit: I'm not bashing straight people. Sorry for anyone who thinks I am. My goal was to make people realize that there are people out there worse than you are. "I've liked this girl for three months and she likes someone else, wah" There are plenty of fish in the sea. If you don't believe me, and are going to say "But she's the one blah blah blah" then I'm going to put you in my shoes and see if it makes you reconsider: As we all know I'm gay. An estimated 5-10% of the population is gay. I'd say more towards 5%. So, for the sake of this example, I'm using 5%. Now, we're to believe that gender is 50/50. So, for every two people, one female one male. That means that out of 120 people, 60 are men, and only 5% of them are gay, which makes 3. If we were to say that I'm in the example, statistically I would make up one third of that, so there would only be 2 other gay men in that group of 120. Now, let's say that you fall in love with a girl. How many other girls have you not been interested in before this girl? Let's say of 200 girls that you've ever met, this one is "the one". For me, for one man to be the 200th man to be "the one" I would theoretically have to meet 6,000 men, rather than your 200. Then, take into fact that that one person has to have the same feelings for you, so we have to square the number. That makes 1/40,000 for you. Sure, that's a super crappy number, but it's way better than my 1/360,000. I know that I'm bringing love down to a math equation, and it's not really reliable to say the least, but I'm just giving it a little spin for your viewing pleasure so you'd understand that life sucks and we all gotta live with it. Moving on; In your case, there are 20x the amount of available people to date than in my case. Meaning, the chances of someone liking your one girl is 20x smaller than my chances. In a city with only so many people, the fact that there may be only 20 or so gay men around my age, that means that these 20 men all have to fight over each other. That makes things cutthroat. Plus the fact that gay men normally have intercourse more than other men, if one person gets a wonderful STD, the majority probably will. And literally, what happens in the family stays in the family. Then of course there will be that one gay man that has just moved in. That's when the vultures attack. Seriously, they smell the gay from miles away and pounce. It's always the same gay guys that find the new gay guy and must date them. So, in order for me to potentially date someone who hasn't been with the third of available gay men in this city, I must find them before the vultures do, which happens normally in a week or two. Then I have to develop feelings for them, which is 1/360,000 as we said earlier. As you can see, people have it worse than you do. I know I kinda lost what I was originally talking about somewhere in there, but my main point is that you people just either (A) move on or (B) quit being so mopey. If you're going to love the same |
