My laptop with windows XP died recently, and now I'm forced to use this table comp with Vista on it. The computer itself is brand new, like a week old, so I haven't tweaked, updated or done pretty much anything with it except install anti-virus things and whatnots. But whenever I play maple on it, the game slows down a bit. It's not internet lag, or anything. It just seems like it goes slow-mo and jumps a few frames. It makes playing quite hard, and potting doesn't seem to work either. Even the music is slowed down. It gets even worse when I play full screen.. Techie things of the comp: ( idk which of these matter, since I honestly have no clue about hardware things :D ) Acer Aspire M1201 Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.60 GHz RAM: 4.00 Gt Also it says that I'm using service pack 1 and a tiny update icon below it. Should I update it? All help is appreciated, I'm so clueless with these things

Since this is a freshly bought computer. Did you install all the drivers on CD's which were given with the computer? If you don't have any, just check what Graphics card you have and google the drivers, should be very easy. About checking, I haven't used vista and I'm not sure if this works, but try going to Start menu -> Run -> Type in dxdiag -> Display tab. Highly possible this way isnt right for vista but worth a try.

I even called the shop and asked why we didn't even get the windows CD, and they said that nowadays they don't give them anymore. Seems kinda dumb to me. I went to control panel and in hardware tab found a button that says ''update device drivers''. Is that it or should I do them manually somehow?

Well, I would do it manually. You can go to Control Panel -> Device Manager and click on Display adapters and you should be able to see what graphics card you have. And then it's easy to google drivers. By the way, did you buy a stock computer or custom built? Custom built PC's usually don't have windows with them but regular stock computer without windows is pretty uncommon imo. Anyways that's not the point and seeing you have windows nevertheless no need to worry about it.

@Above: Its a stock, he said 'Acer Aspire' whereas custom built has no brand. Btw. To check your GPU, download GPU-Z (search on Google) Your drivers should have already been installed previously before since it is a branded computer. [Edit] The TS has Integrated ATi Radeon 2100. Okay. Since you haven't installed an Anti-Virus yet, I recommend you install a free one (Comodo, Avast, etc.) and do a full scan. There may be a possibility you have a virus. Update the anti-virus before you do the scan btw. If nothing appears, download MalwareBytes and do a scan.

Yes please update your service pack, also it could be you Anti-Virus running scans in the background which uses a lot of memory usage. (Only disable it while using MS, turn it back on after you are done playing maple)

Sound like your CPU for whatever reason is spiking up to 100% to meh.

qwan456 : Sound like your CPU for whatever reason is spiking up to 100% to meh. Yes this happens alot. My 7 year old comp died so I went out and got a new one and MS has been really laggy on it. I had been running it flawlessly for like 3 years and even did a Zakum run with no laggy problems.
