Reverse/Timeless?

So I was taking a gander at Mage and Thief equips (Dit and BW being my main chars) and was wondering about Reverse and Timeless equips: They're the same lvl, they look the same and they generally have the same stats. The only difference I can discern is that timeless equipment has one more of the job's main stat (1 more int on mage and 1 more luk on thief). Anybody feel like alleviating my confusion?

its because timelesses ingredients are much harder to get from what i can tell.

timeless has naturally 2 atk higher than reverse lol ^_^

Well thanks for that, I foolishly looked solely at overall equips. *headdesk* The fact that it's simply a matter of 1 or 2 stat points seems ridiculous to me.
