A question to the Loners

I'm trying to learn how to have less of a need to talk to other people, so I can focus more on my education than chilling with friends, because I do that too much and it distracts me from work. So I tried to say my heys to all the people i haven't seen in a while at orientation today, but I tried to keep to myself a lot and see if I could do it, but everytime I tried to somebody would come up to me! Be like "Oh is there something wrong?" or "Ey wassup bruh handshake handshake". I tried but sort of failed .. So my question is.... How do you become socially independent? Or not dependent on being social or something like that? Is it just like something you can't change about yourself? Damn why am I asking people this, Not like you can find a loner in a community of people that interact with other people. Damn!

Go home right after classes. Don't stay at school during lunch hour. Stay home. Don't go out. Be "Appear Offline" on MSN. Only answer your phone to emergency/family.

If you want to be anti-social, you can act very strangely at school so nobody wants to be related to you. Play video games and watch anime at home for entertainment. Never go on AIM/MSN/whatever, always turn off your phone, never pick up house calls.

At times I enjoy silence and being alone, but for personal reason not for my education. Just keep quiet, but when someone goes up to you be polite and talk a bit. Then go back to your solitude, they'll realize that you enjoy being alone without them thinking its because you hate them.
