So my dad just told me AVG isn't an anti-virus. O_O Is he right?
TripleBladez 08/17/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
It is an Anti-Virus. Your dad lied to you.

Yes, it is an anti-virus. http://free.avg.com/ But like I said, there are better free AV solutions.
FireDweller 08/17/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
no he is wrong, avg is an antivirus solution. it has a free and a paid version. the free version is enough though, unless you do alot of rique surfing, the real-time protection that the paid version gives might be more secure for you.

Well, it is antivirus , but not anti-rootkit unless you pay?
dude4321 08/17/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
its an anti-virus...its pretty useless.
Uforia 08/17/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
AVG is considered an anti-virus, but once a virus has taken hold it proves useless... imo, AVG is not an (efficient) antivirus :D

NOD32 better antivirus > you should try it
DgWilliams 08/17/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
AVG kinda fails though, i used it for a while. Until some how or another, i got a virus (Which somehow managed to go directly into my AVG), which ended up crashing all of my executable files (The only way i ever got rid of it, was by getting one of those programs that can delete another program even if it is in use, then getting Avast, and doing a mass scan/delete)

Websense and Webroot (though targeted at large businesses) are the best anti virus solutions on the market... followed by CA Integrated Threat Management, which is surprisingly cheap! (i should know, i sell this kinda stuff day in day out!)

ZuWrath 08/17/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
It's an anti-virus, but no one said it didn't suck arse. I say, the best Anti-Viruses for you to try are: NOD32 avast! Anti-Virus Avira AntiVir

NOD 32 FTW. I do heavy downloading and browsing, as soon i even go on a page the contains an HTML virus, it pops up a red box saying virus deleted. And i may download a few torrents here and there , but i put my computers safety in NOD 32's hands, it it hasnt failed me yet.
