I see and hear this all the time, luckless mages laughing at regular mages because they all think that they're so much stronger and so far ahead of regular mages. As far as common misconceptions go, this has to be one of the most widespread in my opinion. It all comes down to a few simple principles: there is no piece of equipment that a luckless mage can wear that a regular mage can't, yet there are plenty going the other way; the relationship between Intelligence and magic attack is not an exponential one as it is between weapon attack and the main stat of other classes, but rather an equivalent one; and the third and final point that most people ignore, which probably creates this rift in the first place, LUCK ADDS DAMAGE. Yes, in fact, it does. Though nowhere near the amount generated from one point of Intelligence, one point of luck adds crucial damage that mends the gap in damage between these two. Earlier in the game, regular mages are adding points to luck and equipping new armors and weapons, while, for the most part, luckless mages are set in their ways. This creates the discrepancy early on, which, again, I'm sure accounts for the error in judgement upon which this topic is aimed. However, later on, the luckless mage, still using his maple staff, bathrobe, gold or crystal earrings, and the like is only gaining 5 points of Intelligence per level. The regular mage, while only averaging 4 Intelligence points per level, is equipping new weapons with increased Magic Attack, new robes with Intelligence added to them, and so on. By the time both reach the plateau of 4th job, assuming that the regular mage is doing his best not only to equip new weapons and armor, but to scroll them when and where he can, he should be hundreds of damage above the luckless mage, who is still wearing his bathrobe and Maple Staff. Then, obviously, as the level increases, so does the gap in damage, however this time in the opposite direction. The next point to explain is the relationship between Intelligence points and magic attack. Now, unlike, say, a warrior's STR stat and his weapon attack, both magic attack and Intelligence are added together to create the 'Magic' statistic, which is then used in conjuction with the spell's attack and mastery to formulate a damage range. Therefore, Magic Attack and Intelligence are equivalent. In terms of this argument, that point can be used either way, but it is important to understand that a mage who adds Intelligence from armor or equipment (or stat points) is the same as a mage who adds that same amount of magic attack from armor or equipment. Hopefully, by now, it has become blatently obvious, but what I mean to relay here is that a bathrobe which is scrolled to give 5 Magic Attack and a mage robe which already comes with 5 Intelligence points are exactly the same. Sure, there may be an abundance of bathrobes and sauna robes scrolled with Intelligence and Magic Attack, and you may have the money to buy them all, but regu

My point here is that once you pass level 64, there is NOTHING left for you to equip. The Maple Wisdom Staff/Wand is regularly 80 Magic Attack and 1 Int, which equals 81 on your Magic rating. The higher levelled staves and wands, which require luck to equip, are upwards of 150 Magic Attack. The difference in base Intelligence points between a luckless and regular mage at the level of the highest equipment is about 150. Equipping that staff/wand will subtract 70 or more from that difference, and once factoring in the fact that luck adds damage and mage robes come with Intelligence bonuses, the 150-point gap is gone.

LUKLESS ARE STRONGER because: 1. ya sure full luk gets added int but nothing compared to the total int that is on the overall. To wear a lvl 58 overall, a lvl 58 mage needs to dole out 57 points into luk, which he could have added in int. The lvl 58 stuff only gives 6 (overall) + 3 (gloves) + 3 (shoes) + 1 (shield) = 10 int. Thats 57 int being compared to 47 luk, and 47luk is WAY < 57int 2. There are high lvl lukless wpns. At those lvls, both lukless and lukful are permitted to wear the same staff. A lvl 64 full luk and normal luk will both wear a staff starting with around 81matk clean, and though at high levels lukful get to wear staffs that lukless can't wear, there is the lvl 130 LUKLESS wands which are the second highest lvl staffs, while the highest needs 178 luk and is NOT worht putting points into luk for.

They are stronger, but the people who create them only care about being stronger. When really, they're missing out on regular equips. -Being stuck with the usual, Sauna + Maple Equip- |

Elemental Weapons are a shining example of why Lukless are always stronger than LUK. The fact of the matter is that you need luk to equip higher level weapons to match the magic attack on the Lv. 130 Elemental Wands; for example, if you were somehow in possession of a 150+ stat Dragon Wand, you would need, what, 11x luk just to use it. In other words, your magic stat is 150 minus the 110 you need to have to equip it, so it's more of a net 40 boost, compared to a lukless 150+ stat Elemental Wand, which is a full 150+ magic attack boost. That's an enormous difference. By the way, you're wrong. The magic damage formula does not use LUK; it uses MATK, INT, and the skill power and mastery of your skills. That's why the above example works as such; the more LUK you have, the less power you'll have in the end. A point in LUK is a point away from extra strength, so the less the better. On top of that, the more base INT you have (aka, being lukless) allows you to receive a higher INT boost from Maple Warrior per cast than LUK. It's a little boost, but every bit adds up. Your example works for poorly funded characters on both ends of the spectrum. However, lukless Magicians require less funding than LUK and with such funding can easily become much stronger.

Yes, Even Naruto believes it. Unless they make a level198 wand that has base 200 magic attack as well has level 198 robes/hat/shoes/gloves that all have a base of say 10 int.
