I made a slinger because, well, I was bored. Got my double shot maxed out but it only does two hits of 80%. Assassin's L7 does two hits of 150%, while even archer's double shot does two hits of 130%. Am I the only one feeling ripped off, or is there some good reason for this that I'm missing here?

the numbers may be low but if i remember correctly the speed basically makes up for the damage difference. We just have to train at place where a high knockback isn't required. Double shot's firing speed can only be described as insane...almost like a mini rapid fire/hurricane XD
InazumaRaijin 07/15/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
Valid, I was thinking that too but the damage is still somewhat disappointing haha. So am I correct in assuming the speed isn't really based on your gun's speed? It didn't seem to change when I ended up with a slower gun

i'm not particularly sure how much the gun speeds affect double shot cause i remember when pirates first came out, a lot of gunslingers were complaining how even booster didn't make a difference with the attack speed. (booster does affect it, ds is just so dam fast that the visual difference is minimal to the average mapler) I'm going to assume that different speed guns will affect the speed of double shot because double shot is a regular attack and should follow the rules. don't quote me on that, gonna have to wait for someone who knows something about weapon speeds.

I noticed a great difference after using booster, but I agree that some mapler don't see it.

yeah, slingers are much faster than other classes, but the reason they have weak 1st and 2nd job moves is because they own in 3rd and 4th job xD im 76 and im doing like 9k+ ...its crazy how much more you do in 3rd job
FroznSolid 07/16/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
FroznSolidwtf 9k+? Range?^^ No, because double shot spams super-fast. Booster barely helps it, getting a 'fast' gun instead of 'normal' does have a difference, visually [from what i've observed[.
Nataku 07/16/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
There is a slight difference in the speed of double shot if you have a slower weapon equipped. But as far as I know, there's only one gun in MS (level 35 I think?) that's 'normal' instead of 'fast', so that shouldn't really be that much of an issue should it? But really, those levels should go by quickly enough that it shouldn't be terribly important. And yes, gunslingers are weak in 1st and 2nd job. We are, that's just how it goes. But we are also extremely fast. And that speed helps make up for all those low numbers you see, because a whole bunch of low numbers adds up quite nicely =]
FroznSolid 07/16/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
FroznSolidfyi, the lv 15, 25 and 35 guns are 'normal'. I just skipped over them for that reason.
Nataku 07/16/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
xD Well I suppose that would be why I never noticed, I went with the level 10, 20 and 30 guns, I don't think I ever even looked to see if there were any in-between those lower-levels, you go through them so fast.

Eventhough Double bullet is weak compared to others, It has great speed. In 3rd job maxing burst fire will triple it and make it almost 600%.
