List a good computer under $1000

Okay, so my parents ahve offered to buy me a new computer under $1000 Name a good computer that is pretty good for gaming. I'll mainly use it to surf the web like facebook, type reports for school, and the only game i currently play is restaurant city. :D I prefer dell, because i'm used to it and everything.

If you want to go with dell, try the studio models, or the inspiron 530. Try browsing around http://slickdeals.net/ and find a desktop deal. It'll save you a heapload of money.

Build your own is the best around. Second to none. If you want to go and customize a Dell, then by all means, do so. But a DIY of the same price will beat out a Dell at the same price.

But note that you have to buy it later around March of 2010, TS), the hard drive, and the DVD drive. Edit: I just realize the only game he plays is Facebook game? xD

sony or hp are always good. it really depends on what you are planing on doing. If you are gaming then build, if not just go with a premade system.

For OS, I'm not sure what the TS would want. I would recommend to wait until W7 comes out, since Vista is as slow as **** and XP is a much older OS that probably will become obsolete once W7 has been out for long enough. EDIT: LOL? He only plays a facebook game? Then like the entire system is wasted and is nothing but a waste of electricity.... But then, he has bragging rights.

Dells are the exact same as every other computer manufacturer. They offer nothing truly different about their computers except for the little Dell badge and stickers. So there's no real 'getting used' to a Dell. Also, these computers are able to do a HELL lot more than play Restaurant City. If that's your definition of gaming, then you should probably rethink it. The computers listed above can play Crysis . If games like this don't interest you, then you're better off with a cheaper and less powerful computer because it'll be overkill for pretty much everything you're going to do on it. (to save money)

Yeah. You'd be better off playing a facebook game + maple on a $500 computer. It's not worth building at that price point because you have to pay an extra $100 for OS, so you might as well buy a prebuilt system. I'd say that a system with the specs I listed above can play Crysis at Ultra high settings, with no AA/AF, at >1680:1050.
