I'm about to go shoot up my school

Not really. But I'm PO'd beyond belief. Today is July 9th. That's the day that I can register for classes. I have them all picked out, I know what sections, what times, what instructors, yay! Oh, except the fact that my school is stupid enough to not let people take classes out of their major. Do they tell me this? No. My major was accounting. I'm switching to Business Management. However, there seems to be some odd lock on my account for any other classes other than accounting classes. I was told about this, right as I finished registering. NONE of my classes have gone through. It tells me to call a number. I call the number. Busy. I call it again. Busy again. For a half an hour, I've called the number. Busy. So I think, hell, I'll just go up to the school. The error message told me to go to the counseling office and the enrollment office. I figure counseling would go first since all I have to do is switch my major and it should take a good ten seconds. Upon getting to my school and walking into the counseling building, I notice that the line has literally 50+ people in it. The wait is an hour+. So, I think, hell no I'll go the enrollment office. The line wrapped around the building. Hour and a half+ wait. OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF! Considering I have to work today and do other errands, I can't stand in a line for an hour and a half just so that I can have someone say "Oh you have to go to counseling" or "Oh you have to go to enrollment". I know it's going to happen. All because I have to fill out ONE piece of paper that says "Hey, I'm switching majors" because there's a lock on my account. Stupidest. School system. Ever. Now I'm sitting on the phone pressing redial every five seconds until it goes through. It's been half an hour. Still no sign of hope.

Um, a lot of schools actually have restrictions on classes that are only available to certain majors.

almost every school i know have classes only available to students who have that as their major. and it makes sense. if the classes were filled up with the non-majors and the majors couldnt get in, the school would have serious problems. alot of people wouldnt be able to graduate on time because they couldnt take the class to fulfill their major requirements. what you should've done was declare your new major way before it was time for you to register for classes.

I walked in this thread thinking you were very pissy for no reason at all, when I read the first line I'm like.. oh not cool joking around with shooting up a school. After reading the entire thing I feel for you, I just signed up for classes as well and gladly this hasn't happened to me. This is your schooling so I think missing one day of work to fix this is appropriate unless you have a bad attendance record at work.
