This Newer Generation of F/Ps Makes Me Laugh.

Warning : This thread contains the personal opinions and observations of Torchalan. I'm very weird sometimes. I don't know what this thread is. It may be a rant, an observation, a way to get attention, or just a statement. While I sit here sipping my green tea (it's none of that sweetened junk, all natural ftw.), I've recalled an event that occurred recently. I won't go into the details at all, but it left me awed. Note that in no way do I claim to be of an older generation, for my F/P is only 13 months, 29 days, and 8 hours old. (Take that TaoTapp!) Anyways, some younger F/P on my BL started talking. It was basically like this. (I'm 2) 1 : Who's your F/P idol Joe? 2 : Probably Amhenia/eplphany, why? 1: Huh? o.o 2 : What? You haven't heard of them? 1 : No, you and David are my idols... 2 : ... You really don't know who they are? 1: No, I don't. 2 : Well, she was a genius. So were IMennighonI and ICastPizza. There's more too, like Flenaris, but I never really understood his builds. 1 : I haven't heard of any of them. 2 : They were some of the F/Ps that set basic groundwork out, the first pizards, or just those who discovered things. All I discovered was 1 thing, and I used other people's discoveries for that. 1 : Why haven't I heard of them? 2 : I guess they died out. Amhenia and ICastPizza quit, I think. IMennighonI was never really famous, and Flenaris quit too. On a different note, I would assume it's also because you're new. Anyways, do some F/Ps really not know who they are? I'm positive I forgot/don't know about some other people, but this reminds me of the moment someone said this in the F/P forum : Guy said: "Who was Toralan?" It's just one of those "UGH" moments. No offense intended to anyone. But really, it's just hard to process this thought in my brain. It's like I've been on a carb-less diet because I'm a misinformed body builder.

I remember the first time I watched flenaris F/P video... It was godly inspiration. =D Elu and Flenaris were my two great inspirations for F/P. My f/p is 4 years old. D= Training was hell back in those days. xD EDIT: I was of the old gen of F/P wizards... -__- (I got to 3rd job in may 5 2008)

Times change, people are forgotten. It's really hard to preserve the work someone does on a blog or a forum because threads are constantly being created, new content erasing the work of the past, that things people said or wrote or THOUGHT are simply gone. Take, for example, my sharking guide, which became obsolete with the release of Leafre. It takes those who still remember to keep them preserved, so perhaps those who remember those older F/Ps haven't given them enough respect and recognition. I remember watching Flenaris' Level 118 video when I was depressed in my 6x levels, back when he had first released the film. Today I have the song, Sailing Day, he used in the video on my most listened to playlist, and every time I listen to it I can remember each section of the film based on where the melody is in the track. Like the others you mentioned, he may not have an e-Shrine devoted to him, but I think the legacy he left on F/Ps like myself is what matters when years past and threads are gone.

Oh god, the cognitive dissonance. Normally, I roll my eyes at threads like these, declare them elitist, and hit the back button, but I can totally see where you're coming from with this. I won't call myself an old player, because people are able to pass 140 in, like, a few months now. It's a moot point. However, I will rant about one thing... I cannot stand it when third jobbers who get to train on friggin' skelegons complain about it getting slow. It's just this huge pet peeve of mine, and whenever I see someone calling skelegon misting slow, or complaining about it and asking for a better alternative, I have to use so much restraint to not make a ragepost. It's been even worse now that we have the mini dungeons. I mean, I was getting good rates misting there in the high 13x's. People who peach about misting there in their third job just .... augggh. I mean, if you're just tired of the old routine, then mist somewhere else for a while. At this point, there must be a TON of places for people to mist now, if they get bored of skelegons. We have friggin' grims, friggin'... vikings, or whatever, friggin' Squids, sharks, that's like four, right there. That's not even counting whatever they've added to the time temple, because from what I've heard, that place is crazy good exp. The whole "they don't know my idols" thing doesn't bother me too much, though. It's just these people who actually complain about "having to" train at skelegons in their third job. I'm sure it makes every other class just burst into hysterical laughter. "h...he...he's actually UPSET about getting 4,500 exp per kill!" SEASONS GREETINGS

Forgot to mention the ability to have ez 4x whenever you want too, plus an EXP curve reduction. EXP curve + 20m/hr misting...oh wait, who mists anymore? Leechplz. I got my girlfriend from 108 to 118 in 4 hours of 4x, so hey, not really that hard anymore.
