Random relationship though

It occurred to me while watching the Disney proposal video. Scenario: A couple has been going out for two years, and they are both 26 years old. They have never discussed about marriage before, but they have both had a wonderful and serious relationship together. At a fancy restaurant the guy proposes to her, but she says no. What happens to the relationship after? I guess there are a number of things that could happen, like discussing why she said no and whether or not they still want to go out.

I doubt much of the Basil population would understand relationships at that age. :/ Marriage is more complicated than many people think, it isn't just the case of saying you're husband and wife and leave it at that. So possibly the girl just thinks that it isn't the right time to get married because it could leave to a build up of stress, etc. What happens after? They continue the loving relationship they had before, it isn't like some child's relationship that makes it seem awkward between the two people after.

I still imagine it would be hella awkward for a month Of course, I'm pretty sure almost all couples talk about marriage before the guy proposes so this would hardly ever happen
