For some reason task manager shows maplestory using 95%-100% of my cpu when i'm running it in windowed mode. When i end maplestory my cpu usage goes down to 3%-5%. Why is maplestory using so much resource? i have 4gb of ram. Maple should only take maybe 10% of that? any help?

maybe using window mode is the problem?
fatpig 07/04/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
happens to me too
TeefBlade 07/04/09 + PM | QUOTE | PERMALINK | REPORT
cant check usage in full screen

What are you running while you play ms in window?

same with me, me laptops starts to heat up fast in windowed mode

xkonohamaruxram =/= cpu. maybe THAT'S why On another note. you will lag more in windows mode because your graphics processor or card is processing more images, such has your desktop and other things. maple is ment to be a full screen game so other things in the background wont interrupt with the processing of them game

Window mode has to run MapleStory AND most of your other programs in the background. In full screen it pretty much ignores everything else, which is why everything is blank for a short while after quitting full screen. I think that's the reason.

maybe you have a few viruses, or some spyware running.

>_> So because you have 4 GB RAM, Maple shouldn't use your processor at all? Plunk @ Above is the only one near the real matter here. When something is minimized, Windows does not provide the program with much else than what it needs when it's idle. Therefore it won't draw any power. But I bet you have a few things running while having Maple windowed, and thats the reason why it's using so much power. And whats with "I cant check it when maximized"? You can switch between programs if you use Alt + Tab. >_>

Think about it. If you have a program running, do you think that your CPU is going to only use 10% of its power on said program? No, the CPU will run at full speed working on whatever it needs to work on at any given moment, given that there is something to work on.

Maple does tend to use about 100% of a 3GHz P4 CPU from all my research on the games usage (multiple computers w/ diff core numbers and clock speeds). So if you have say a 2.4GHzs squad, it roughly uses 100% of a core. A single 1.8GHz-3GHz machine, it will use 100% of the processor.

well ihave nothing running in the background besides the things that start up with the computer. (which is basically nothing)From what i thought, Ram gives virtual memory in order for the CPU to process the information. The speed of the CPU is just how fast it can process information. What would cpu speed have anything to do with usage? And alt+tab when in windowed mode would make maplestory a background process correct? meaning it wouldnt show the right usage of the cpu.?

:x Same with my laptop. I have a T9400 (2.53Ghz) Processor & 4GB of Ram. Everytime I window the CPU Usage goes higher & the fan starts to rev up.

BobRIf you only have ONE thing running on your computer, why WOULDN'T the CPU spend 100% of it's time running it..? You want your CPU sitting idle not doing anything 90% of the time, ignoring the program you're trying to run..? What in the world did you pay for the CPU to do then..? Better question: Is it causing any problems...? If not, then just smile, and play Maple Story.
