| Ok, first of all, I do not intend to create a flame war nor do I believe that I am saying all Clerics are bad. I have read some very nasty cleric/preist/bishop threads latley and would just like to give my opinion. I think there are 5 types of clerics... The first type: The "good" cleric, Thiese guys make maple fun and MUCH easier on everyone. They are the ones who use holy symbol and know how to play their class, heal when nessisary and buff when needed. Thiese people make up 90% of maple's clerics (made up statistic, but what I have found) and I personally love having a cleric like this in my party. The second type: The lazy cleric, they are basically the same as the "good" cleric, but don't like to do much. They don't heal and require you to come to them for buffs. This is completley normal and I personally, have no problem with it. It is to your advantage that they are there, even if they are leaching (not without helping you though) . The third type: The cheap cleric, ok... everyone's had them in high level hunting parties... The ones who don't heal, use genesis (if possible/nessisary/wanted) or use anything that they don't need to get into parties. So basically HS only. Whatever, they still help you... Just not as much. This is not a very common type, but it happens and everyone just deals with it unless they are the noob. The fourth type: The just plain stupid cleric, REALLY rare... This is a character that leached his way to being a preist/bishop and does not either: a. Know how to control his character b. Thinks he is an effective attacker at Newts (Just an example) at level 80 when he just maxed holy symbol. This is a pain because the cleric either forgets how to do things, where to go, or other stuff that just wastes time or thinks he is in the party cause he is finally 3rd job and a 1337 attacker... I don't know many people like this, but I have met them. The fifth type: The "why-the-hell-is-this-guy-in-our-party" cleric, the most annoying person ever in a party. Is like the cheap cleric in that he does nothing, starts telling the attackers to fight faster and is just a pain to have around. Usually this type of cleric's disadvantages outweigh the buffs he provides (which are usually not on you anyway). They refuse to heal, hs, bless or anything else. This is the n00b that everyone gets the bad cleric/preist steriotypes from. This type of person almost never makes it to bishop because he gets kicked out of parties as soon as they start fighting. daStrike said: "The sixth type: The one that has laggy and unreliable heal." This is a good 6th type... The "why-does-he-have-such-a-bad-internet-connection" cleric, you may die... You will NOT like that, but just deal with it... |
