Well today, after finishing watching the movie transformers with my cousins, my aunt (their mom), picked us up. On the way home she told us how she found a baby bird behind a car and the bird wasn't moving so she got scared if the driver of the car would get in the car, and accidently the bird would get runed over, so she took it in her house. I wanted to see the bird so iwent to her house and saw it, the poor bird was terrified it wouldn't move from the corner of the living room even if we put food or water near it. So after about 15 minutes my aunt tells me to free the bird close to where she found it so maybe the mother comes back and finds it. So she puts it in a shoe box and i go. I placed it next to the car so it wouldn't have any real danger, but i felt sad for it because i could tell it was still scared because it wouldn't still move .

It could jump and land, but it couldn't fly, It look like it had was a few days old.

Isnt it with birds that when they are still small and humans take them to themselves, the bird parents wont accept the baby anymore when they're brought back? (something with the smell if I remember right)

(I think)" I was interested with the topic so I searched it on google. Link below says that's not true because most birds have a poor sense of smell. link

You do realize, the mother will never return to the bird. Like most animals, birds and also rabbits/domestic animals in the wild/etc. when their offspring comes into contact with outsiders like humans it leaves a trail of scent. When the birds mother comes back, it won't recognize the birds scent and it will space itself since you made it smell like humans. Your best bet is to welcome it.

By the way, if it helps, we didn't touch the bird she always had it in a shoebox.
