Attack from weapons vs Attack from armour

When I took off all my equip then attached my knuckle I calculated how much difference it made, basically i calculated how much damage STR attributed to, it was about 28. Then when I added more attack from equips it increased the damage but STR still = 28. Then I equipped a lower attack knuckle, calculated it and this time STR gave me 27.5 damage.. And the ratio stayed at 27.5 with attack from my glove and cape. So I just wanna know if my observation is correct that the ratio of STR:damage is based on our main weapons. And attack from our main weapon is the variable that changes the ratio of how much damage our STR equates to. Additional attack from equip equates to an amount of STR, how much STR it equates to is based on a separate formula, but it does not change the ratio of STR:Damage, which is what attack from weapons does. I also think some weapons are based off on STR others on DEX/INT/LUK... For instance if as a pirate you attach a Gun, dex would be taken as the main stat so a Gun with 70 attack would give a lower damage range than a Sword, spear or knuckle with 70 attack...Right? Am I correct on these observations?

Your total str/total weapon attack is how much STR equates to 1 weapon attack. Equip-given weapon attack doesn't do anything different from weapon-given weapon attack. You do know that damage calculators don't ask you what attack comes from equips and what comes from weapons, right?
