| Ok so, I quit Maple in the beginning of April. I started going back to it yesterday. It finished downloading 5 minutes before I had to go to sleep. I played for 2 hours of Maple today. My Uncle uses the computer. Sees a virus. Blames Maplestory. Uninstalls it. And it took me like 3 hours to download it. Anything like this happen to you? |

| I used to use my brother's computer to play games and one day he got a virus and his whole computer messed up and he blamed the games for it. I kept telling him Limewire gave it to his computer but he wouldn't believe me and kept yelling at me. When we took it to the store, the computer guys said Limewire caused it. My brother felt retarded. |

| adults think they know everything about anything when it comes to talking to kids. he's an idiot and it was probably all of the *explicit* he downloads. never happened to me, however when i was younger, my dad used to blame my games for making the computer slow. i never deleted any of them because it was because of all the things he downloads. he doesn't pull that anymore because after getting his work laptop infected 3 times, he knows better than to doubt my brother's or my word. ^^ ./end rant |

That's the USB speed that causes the lag, not the computer slowing down because of it. I've run half life on a flash drive, and it sucks; every auto-save there happens to be a 5 second lag while the game writes the save to the USB. However, I've run fallout 3, oblivion, and many other graphically intensive games on my USB external hard drive, at the same speeds as on my PC without a hard drive. NAND flash (aka flash drive) is going to be slower than an actual HDD. Maple works on a USB, but it may lag if its a flash drive. @GhostSade; Not to be rude, but no company is going to buy a game a 13 year old kid wrote with software available for free or at or under 100$(Or even if you scripted from the ground up yourself). Even if it was really good or you had all the tools (that the major companies use) and knew how to use all of them correctly, they have teams of people who could replicate your efforts in 1/4 of the time it took you. Unless when you get older and are one of the lucky few that actually gets hired; keep it as a hobby (doesn't mean you can't sell it either). There are tons of other Indie game developers out there who have a lot of talented work who aren't hired. I'd recommend checking a lot of these titles out here. |
