Introduction Since everyone and their mothers thought that Paladins would be "teh pwnz0rz" at Temple of Time, I will give some facts from experience. The next section is not a showoff section, but rather, to give you a view on how my Paladin is like, so you know everything that is relevant to the topic. About My Paladin I don't think any of you care about my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd job skills, so I'll jump to 4th. Achilles: 0/10 Guardian: 0/10 Maple Warrior: 2/10 Monster Magnet: 0/10 Rush: 1/10 Blast: 30/30 (MAXED) Holy Charge: 0/10 Divine Charge: 20/20 (MAXED) Advanced Charge: 10/10 (MAXED) Heaven's Hammer: 3/10 ? ?: 0/0 <--- Figure out that skill =P HP: 8926 MP: 1034 AP Stats (Training Gear) STR: 755 (717 + 38) DEX: 69 (10 + 59) INT: 21 (4 + 17) LUK: 24 (4 + 20) 130 Base Accuracy Damage Range (no buff): 2143 ~ 5270 124% Speed, 100% jump AP Stats (Damage Gear) STR: 760 (717 + 43) DEX: 71 (10 + 61) INT: 21 (4 + 17) LUK: 24 (4 + 20) 143 Base accuracy Damage Range (No Buffs): 2204 ~ 5413 105% Speed, 100% Jump Items: All I'm disclosing is that I have no Mark of Naricain. Buffing and Temporary Items: - Warrior Elixir (+12 Attack) - Sniper Pill (+10 Accuracy) - Speed Pill (+10 Speed) - 11 DEX Maple Leaf Memory Lanes Elemental Weakness: None Elemental Resistance: None Charge Used: Holy Lane 1: It wasn't the worst thing ever, I could kill in one hit at times, mostly two hits, with Blast, though, it didn't require extensive potion usage. It wasn't anywhere near good experience though. It was moderately difficult finding mobs of 3+, or cross platform mobs for Heaven's Hammer's range. Lane 2: About the same as Lane 1, except they have more HP, so one hit kills were near impossible, or was impossible. Lane 3: Memory Guardians hit as hard as about Wyverns, dealing roughly 2k damage with magic. It was easier finding mobs in this map than the previous 2; however, it still did not yield good experience as far as training goes. Lane 4: Chief Memory Guardians hit about 500 more damage than Memory Guardians, cross platform mobs could be found, and mobs of 4+ appeared every so often. The experience was still not spectacular. Lane 5: Basically the same as Lane 4, except now you have Dodo at the top of the map. Dodo: Elemental Weakness: None Elemental Resistance: None Charge Used: Holy Dodo was fairly easy to kill, took about 3 ~ 5 minutes, I wasn't really paying as much attention to the time as I was on my HP, he hits about 3k. He uses nothing fancy, well, at least when I fought him. Conclusion: Memory Lanes are not good for training, and cross platform mobs are usually found at the top. Road of Regrets Elemental Weakness: Lightning, Fire Elemental Resistance: Ice Charge Used: Lightning Road 1: I could 2 hit kill here with Blast. Like Memory Lane 1, mobs were not the most common thing ever, and finding cross platform mobs was pretty hard. Road 2: Again, I could 2 hit kill here with Blast, but mobs were not too common, cross platform mobs are at the top mostly. The experien

Obviously people got better EXP at time temple, so you're doing something wrong. Maybe you don't have full control over your char, you're not used to the training method or your heaven's hammer isn't maxed. I'm pretty sure most pallys were training on the strongest monsters in path of oblivion, though. Not really sure :/

Some people might have, yes, but not everyone. most of the monsters don't come in mobs very often, and at skeles, u get a LOT of mobs im pretty sure that i have full control over my char after playing it for a year and a half, and at that, i've never had a main char besides a warrior since i started 3 years ago maybe it's cuz my HH isn't maxed, but i highly doubt it since i couldn't find mobs to use it on really ._.

okay, I don't wanna come out stupid or something since i don't have a pally myself, but i just watched a video on youtube of a guy training at captain guardians of oblivion (which is 4th room of oblivion, I think) and he basically cut the map to 4 quarters. He started by HHing the top left quarter, then killed all of the guardians with rush, then by the time he got to the top right he could already use HH again and rush the monsters there, then bottom right, then bottom left and repeat. Is that the method you tried? Might wanna check the captain guardians instead of the monks too XD

You're right about the mobs being really slim at the places you mentioned, but if you had gone further into the Roads of Oblivion you would have found much more mobs. Also since your HH isn't maxed, that effects your training speed by far at Time Temple.

The hype of ToT was around HH. Of course it can only show its full potential when training on the monsters with the highest up, like in the popular video. In that video a Paladin with terrible control got 10%/hr with HH training, this is at level 143 from memory. Since hammer training is relatively constant, comparing this to skeles exp may be a way to see if it is worth pallies making their way deeper into the temple.

Well i think it was pretty well known that Skelegons are going to be better no matter what. But i'm pretty sure a maxed Heavens Hammer in Oblivion 4/5 is going to be atleast decent. ...if you can meet the insane accuracy requirement atleast.

People didn't think Paladins would own because of their elemental charges, they thought they would own because of hammer. And for the most part it's true. I'm in the Oblivion maps now and owning, I'm getting much more kills than the BM, Bishop and I/L Mage I was with. The only character that came close was a Bucc, but with hammer I could still outkill him.. Edit@Starwolf: You don't need to hit 100%. Hammer ignores ACC. A 7X%+ hitrate is enough to finish them off with Rush.

Bear in mind with everything you said, mobs get significantly harder as you change from one course to the other, and as far as levels go, you're still pretty low compared to what Time Temple usually attracts

the paladin in the video is lvl 146, and he was getting around 9.6%/hr im not sure how big the mobs are at road of oblivion 5, i'll see when i get there however, i think it is safe to say that u can get around the same exp at skeles if u had stance, and much better exp if u had a bishop with u

I have tried soloing at Oblivion 4 (Drk Knight). It seems decent exp, but I will prob stay at skeles for a while. The walk to it gets really annoying, especially having to go all the way to leafre just to repot.

The Paladin was 146 and 10% at 146 is just under 12mil exp/hr based on the normal exp and not the adjusted one we have now. I know a BW Paladin who got 6mil at the same level. As for the actual thread, I'll say that I don't have enough time right now to read through the whole thing but as people have said, the hype around Time Temple wasn't really the elemental mobs for Paladins, it was about Heaven's Hammer. Considering you don't have it maxed, I wouldn't say it's fair to say it's not good. And personally, I found Road of Oblivion 4 or whatever the map is called to produce exp very similar to skeles. I don't have that great map rotation on it and I'm still getting used to their damage but I think if I perfected a technique it could be marginally better than skeles. I'll probably come up with something this weekend and see if it's truly better than skeles. Even if it's not, the main thing for me is that it's not skeles. I'd rather from skeles despite how magnificent they are. |
